so my problem is as followed
i went into the settings of my profile and selected the "Disable animated gifs" options
so why are the gifs still playing?
both during my search and when selecting a game and going to their page there are gifs playing...
i get it they are nice to look at and show what the games animations look like
but when i select an option that says SPECIFICALLY "Disable animated gifs" i would like it if they stop

is there another way how to stop them or do i have to deal with this?

To be honest, I have no clue what this option is supposed to do. If we talk about actual animated gifs and not things that are sometimes refered to as gifs, but are actually webm files, well, an anigif is an image file given to your browser and the browser handles it. It is not easy for a website to hinder the browser from looping those.

Maybe it is caching, but if I change the option, I see no difference for the cover images on the top pages. There are some "gif" cover images that are animated and some are animated only if I hover over them. If I open the file directly, the browser will loop some of the gifs, and some are not looped.

So, to add to your question: what's up with animated gifs?
