Community Copy Program

Hi all,

Some of us have experimented with a "suspended coffee" style community copy program on itch to support those with financial limitations, leveraging itch's reward system. A lot of how to do it has sort of grown out of discussions on Discord and Twitter, and information on how to do it has been requested enough that I thought I'd make a blog post about it, and share here.

Questions and feedback welcome! <3

Thank you for the really great blog post and concept! 😊 This is such a great way to support those in our community who are struggling. I’ve added Community Copies to every one of my paid games to make them all more accessible to those in want or need. 💖

The community copy idea is such a meaningful way to make indie games accessible to everyone, regardless of income. It feels like a digital version of “paying it forward,” where generosity supports creativity. I’ve started offering community copies for my small projects too, and it’s amazing how much goodwill it generates across the community.
