No game only image file when I downloaded

First hello and thanks. I'm a little new around here and I'm wondering if this experience has happened to you as it did to me just recently. I donated and then downloaded what I thought was a game and it turns out what I downloaded was only an image. So I'm wondering what I can do to rectify the situation.

Thanks

Update

Apparently it helps to do a little bit of research on your own. I went back and I noticed a play symbol on the image on the Creator's page and decided to pressure. I mean what could happen. Well apparently what could happen is the game actually started on the browser so I'm starting to learn how things work around here.

This board is not for issues with individual games or projects. itch.io hosts hundreds of thousands of games, if you need to contact a developer directly consult their game's page.

Itch.io allows you to upload different types of content. For example, you can upload an only HTML game and reward those who donate with a wallpaper or a guide, and include that content in the download section. This is just an example, since without a link to the game itself, it's impossible to know which project you're referring to.

The best thing to do is read the game description and pay attention to the icons next to the download button, which usually indicate the type of content.

If, for some reason, the developer indicates that you are purchasing a game, but instead of downloading the game, you are only downloading an image, then that would be a scam. In that case, you should contact support to request a refund, and you can also report the project using the link at the bottom of the project page.
