I published my game 7 days ago here:

The project is marked as public, it has screenshots, a description, and a downloadable build. Everything looks properly set up and works fine via the direct link — but it still doesn’t appear in itch.io search results or on my profile page.

I found an older archived thread from about 7 years ago where someone had a similar issue, and the general advice was to just wait a few days for the game to appear in search. However, it’s already been a full week, and nothing has changed.

Is there anything else I should check or do to make the game visible in search and on my public profile?

Yes, you could read the unofficial FAQ pinned right at the top of this category, which  answers your question.

In your case, the game needs to be seen by itch.io staff. If it takes too long, the rules of this category tell you what else to try.
