"Invalid Token" while attempting to verify 2FA login Sticky

Hello,

This topic needs no response and is only here for helping others attempting to log in.

As I had just been experiencing, on some occasions a 2FA request will be triggered for login and the corresponding email will produce a code that, when copied, repeatedly gives the error “Invalid Token” instead of allowing you to sign in. In process of troubleshooting this you might try signing in again, but this error occurs repeatedly.

Despite the email encouraging you to copy the code, try the following:

  • Wait at least a couple more minutes after receiving the latest 2FA code from itch.io before attempting to submit the 2FA form.

Especially if you have had to sign in more than once, a 2FA code may have been requested multiple times (more than what you had actioned). Even though you may have received an email with a new code “Just Now”, another email might still be coming directly after that one, so just wait for a few minutes and check your inbox again before retrying.

  • Instead of copying the code, type the code in manually.

Depending how you copy the code, you may have accidentally selected space characters that have been additionally pasted in the text field. To be sure, carefully type the code in yourself.

I just experienced this thinking it might have been a VPN or Adblocker issue, but these only seem to affect triggering Recaptcha and the initial 2FA request, not the verification process. There were multiple unresolved threads on this issue. Hope it helps someone!
