Hi, I'm enjoying this game solo first to figure it out then plan to play co-op with my daughter.
My question is, what should happen when the characters fail at a locked door. For example, recently my character and companion encountered a locked door with a magic rune. I'd already used up my EP so did two luck rolls which failed.
Should I just roll again? In the moment I resolved that the door opened anyway (so that we could progress) but fell forward and landed on my character but I wasn't sure if there was something else I should be doing...

So technically speaking if your Companion used up all their EP then they would become unconscious and it鈥檚 up to your squishy character or another companion to try to wake them up. That said, if that feels too ridiculous (my mighty companion tried to open a door too hard and fainted 馃槄), you are 100% free to narrative your way out of that issue.
Likewise with the door situation: if you鈥檙e out of EP and your luck rolls have failed (and you haven鈥檛 learned any Passwords yet), I like your resolution of having the complication be the door falling on you or a companion (best be the companion who can lose some HP, as your squishy character would have to successfully luck roll a dodge or instantly get… well, squished.)

Hello! Co-op can work in different ways: one of you could be in charge of the book-keeping and reading out the prompts while the other makes the role-playing decisions and dice rolls. Alternatively you could share the book-keeping and prompt-reading and each role-play as one or more characters. Personally I am a fan of the first option, with the "narrator" sometimes pitching in with possible ideas or solutions when inspired. Just bought the game, love the themes though im a little confused about the EP example it gives. if a character has two stats dividing them equally giving them 5 in strength and 5 in charm and the +2 means they have a total of strength 12 EP? so when I go to spend EP points on a task do I take them from the relative stat or the point pool total?
My shape changer Minotaur has 7 charm and 7 strength and I want her to bust down a door, do I subtract 3 EP from strength for a total success?
For the shapeshifter, the +2 modifier applies only to CHA.
So if you rolled a 10 and attributed them 5 EP in CHA then they have 7. Their STR stays at 5 because there is no modifier for STR.
So they have CHA 7 and STR 5. Their HP would be 7 (half of your roll, plus the HP modifier which is +2: 5+2=7).
And yes, they would need to spend 3 EP from STR for a total success at busting down a door, because STR is the relevant Stat.
