SteamDB: Starting on November 15, 2024 Steam will no longer display games to customers in Germany if the game is missing a valid age rating. Will itch.io have to do this for german users?

No.

Itch is not offering and advertising in localized markets the way Steam does.

This also only affects older games before 2020, because since then they have an internal rating system. And developers can update their older games' information.

The funny thing is, 18+/unrated games are not even a problem in Germany. But the way Steam does it has issues. So it is easier for Germans to visit Itch or even Patreon for indie games.
