I've been in control of Mario for NOT FIVE MINUTES and the game switches my control to Withers without even warning me. All I got to do was watch the intro and kill some rats. Was I meant to keep going left into the desert? Because there is NO INDICATION that that's what I'm meant to do.

At least give me time to get used to Mario first, by which I mean more than just killing rats. Seriously, was I meant to keep going left into the desert? Also, is gore/hearts the only way to heal? That's a recipe for softlocks if I've ever seen one.
