Feedback for Pixel Asset Pack

Hello everyone,

I am seeking feedback on a new Pixel Asset Pack I’m currently working on. It's a collection of 16x16 pixel items for your game. If this asset pack is well-received, I plan to continue working on it and turn it into a series of packs.

There is a free demo version available for download, which contains 45 out of the current 162 items.

Also, I would appreciate your thoughts on the cover art of the asset pack. After checking the analysis, I found that the Click-Through Rate is only 1.20%. I’m unsure if this is a good or bad statistic.

Here is the link to my asset pack:

Here is my honest opinion about it -

The pack looks really good, but it kind of exists in a competitive market that kind of has similar products (in a way).

The cover art has a good quality to it and good polish. I still don't really know what I'm getting from the cover art alone, but hopefully things like the description fix that for people.

As for the price, I feel this is a competitive market, and I'm unsure on the value proposition of the pack factoring that in. Here is what I mean... I realize you probably put a lot of work into this pack, and it does look exceptional. But I feel certain assets are in a competitive market. So I'm just saying - the standard price of this asset pack is $6, and the sale price is currently $3. But I'm feeling that as is, this feels like more of a $2-$3 pack.

So here is my suggestion. I don't want to steer you the wrong way, because my opinion could always be wrong, and others might not see it the way I do... but my suggestion is keep prices low for now, letting people try the pack for about $2-$3. I feel a good value for the pack as is would be a regular price of $3, and a sale price of maybe $2 when it goes on sale.

But then again, if my suggestion isn't workable, you don't have to listen to me, either. One of the cool things about Itch is that you get to set your own price, what you think things are worth.

I hope my advice doesn't discourage you though, because I feel it is a good pack, and I think you should continue what you're doing.

Edit: It occured to me when I mentioned cover art, I might have been looking at a banner image on the page. If the cover art is the picture that shows the items, the cover art is fine.

Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback :3

Yeah, since items are easier to make than other types of assets, there is a lot of competition.

I think you are right about the banner, so I changed it a bit by adding the word "items" to make it clearer what to expect. It’s not a huge improvement, but every little thing helps. You might be right about the price as well, I can try lowering the standard price to $3. My main goal for now is to get as many people as possible to check out the pack.

I have added 81 new items, focusing on kitchenware and meats. Future updates will include vegetables, cakes, candy, and so on...

And I also changed the screenshots picture to hopefully show the size of the project until now and people feel like they get good value for their money.

Also, let me know what kind of items you want in your game. I will try to have them updated as soon as possible.

My impression is that it's a solid fit for the genre of game that you're going for, but I would agree with the above poster that there's quite a few pixel art packs out there already, so making yours stand out can be a little tough.

To build on what the other person said, it will be helpful to listen to what players are asking for in a pack while also respecting the scope of the project (i.e if somebody's asking for a 200x200 monster sprite, that's obviously not reasonable for what you're already doing). The low price point is acceptable and will make it easy for people to buy the assets as they are, and with improving feedback and increased amounts of sprites you can raise the price a little bit in the future.

If somebody has already incorporated your assets into their game, a great marketing tool would be to include a screenshot on your page, so that way other potential buyers can see what they would look like in an actual game. It will give a lot of visibility to other developers looking for assets to use in their own game.

Thanks for the feedback! Sadly, nobody has made a game using my assets yet. I might need to create a game demo using them.

The good news is, I've actually made my first sales, so that's something. This means I can keep working on the assets more.
