Why would you think it is dead, there are regular updates and the patreon version is updated too. But you might be right about the public version, even so I'm sure to remember them say that another Demo-Build was planned, but that was somewhere in the middle or end of 2022.
The demo is not being updated. But the paid version is still recieving regular updates. If you follow the devs' social media they post regular updates on what's going on behind the scenes.
