Feedback on genre

Not sure what to call this. You play as basically a wealthy upper class citizen, that puts bets on lower class citizens surviving a death arena with railguns. The genre that first comes to mind is an auto battler, however there is no victory against the weapons, as they are never destroyed or killed. Its a matter of how long the citizen you placed a bet on survives the carnage.

I currently placed it under action but again that does not really apply.  The game is in prototype phase at the moment, and has a vertical slice that is playable. Please give it a quick werl, and provide feedback on what genre it feels best suited for.

The title is not finalized.

Thanks again.

Sounds more like simulator genre with gambling in it.

Hey thanks very much for the reply.  I think yours is far superior to what I was running with.  Thanks again mate.

Well, there is always no or other as a genre option.

Unless the player controls the runners, I would not call it action.

The genre selection on itch seems to be less about content and more about how the game is played. Auto-battlers and idle games would be missing from that list. Also gambling/casino. And some genres do have to do with the content.

To me, horror would be a genre, as I would say, I want to play a horror game. But that is a tag.

racing and strategy might apply. Especially if you can influence the death race somehow. You can have more than one genre. It is just tags.

As the idea is you don't have influence over the runner during the gauntlet I am going to go with betting simulator.  Your only influence is if you wish to reward a survivor on their next run you can buy them armor etc, or medical aid before next run etc...

Are there any horse betting games here? This is itch, of course there are. Just search for horse

I glanced at such games, they have genre racing and simulation. Or none.

I added a gameplay video, so if anyone else would like to way in I would really appreciate any input.  As simulated/betting is the closest.  But I have to say not sure what interest that would garnish.
