(Edit 2: this doesn't work)Hi, it maybe very late, but better that never, I recently discovered that you need the windows Japanese package in order to the game to install right(you can find it in the language menu in your windows configuration menu, you only need the main one, not text to spech or spech to text). Edit: I almost forgot to say it, but this is because the songs name are mostly writen in Japanese, something that windows wilI not know how to write without the japanese language pack. I hope this may help.

Ok, I have the solution (if you want to install the japanese version, the one that is in itch(this one)). I figure it out that if you install the game from the itch io app (NOT from the web page/downloaded webpage) it will install it correctly, also, you don't need to install the japanese language package! Hope this help, and sorry that the last one(post) didn't worked, I didn't know.

I'm having the same problem, and the solutions suggested haven't worked for me :( I've installed the VX ace RTP, tried running the Japanese and translated versions but both give the same error. I notice that both downloads are v.1.13 too...
