New Game Idea

So i've been pondering. what if i make a game that combines a few genres together?

this includes:

-Runner
-Rhythm
-Fighting
-Parkour

and it's 3d, meaning you can do different tricks to increase your score as well as fighting a boss to which the music changes and get extra points when you hit them in sync.

i think this idea seems pretty decent and can get combos even more complicated to do, i just feel like this could do some crazy stuff
i do have some stuff to get started In Unreal Engine 5 so i will try and do some prototypes. up until then let me know if this sounds good.

My concern with those genres is elements conflict. I'm afraid you'd ended up with game which only have a few elements of each genre or one genre overpower the others. I don't know about others but IMO combining genres requires main element of each genre to stand out or be significant in gameplay.

I'm not sure how you'd combine Fighting with Parkour since each has its own focus.

Also IMO just because a  game has boss fight doesn't mean it is Fighting game.

that's quite the concern i have at the moment, in all of this comes in the end is execution. how well would you blend a runner game that you have only a few movement options to boost yourself further as well fighting against enemies.
boss fights dont count for the "fighting" aspect obviously.

the gameplay should share the basic concepts of each genre and in later additions/updates it expands the movement and combos.
fighting games have a main gameplay standout and that's you're fighting against another player (or ai) and having lots of flexibilty to use your combos of your character. many games dont have the flexibilty to create your own combos and it lands dull.

parkour elements are mainly inspired from mirror's edge, while tough to pull off if done correctly this would be a good addition.

the score system is also something that shouldnt be underestimated as it'll decide your rank.

all of this needs to be done in  a way it's simple in controls but difficult to master the combos and adding more points.

You can take some idea from Hi-Fi rush . is a rhythm game with fight . Take a look to the trailer

from a dev point of view..... you sound like a new game writer ....

1 - do a test game that showcases any ONE aspect ...

2 - follow up with multiple showcases that show JUST ONE other aspect ...

3 - if the flow is working, combine them ...

*******************

another way to go about this is via level progression:

1 - pick YOUR favorite aspect and make the test and call this Level 1

2 - pick your 2nd favorite and do a Level 2 ... and repeat for each aspect.

This gives you time to see what works and what doesn't ...

FOLLOW the FUN ... If something is not "fun to do" or "a hassle"

drop it! and add something else... If needed, you can add it in later.

im doing more of an experimentation. see what sounds and plays well for a game.
your tips are very helpful and i am considering on FOCUSING one aspect at a time

after that i focus on the other aspects and combine them and polish them in order to play and work together.

I did run into a similar problem with my current game ... hex based ... Where I could not decide on what the interface should be or how the game should be played .... I had ideas, but the "Game" had other ideas... My original plan was each player "Picks up a Unit and drops it in a new location" but that was not what the "Game" permitted. The game basically told me to make a system of "programming" the moves and then all units/players move at the same time. This eliminated the need for an "Undo" option and simplifies multiplayer interactions... An additional benefit is having not been done before ....

That seems to be where you are trying to go ... something not done before.  Listen to your game ... it will tell you what works or what is needed.

yea. that's what i feel like doing. a game that's never been done before.
then the game will tell me what stuff needs to change.
