Posts awaiting moderator approval

I have 10+ comments in limbo that have been pending moderator approval for 2-3 days. That's fine, but it does raise several questions:

  1.  How long does it usually take before posts go through (I have no idea how many/few mods are working on great/small a backlog, so please don't interpret this as a veiled complaint/demand)?
  2. Where can I view my posts that are pending approval?
  3. Is it possible to edit or delete them while they are in limbo?
  4. Are they pending approval from itch staff,  game devs or both?
  5. Will receive a notification when they go through or are rejected?

I believe this question does not fall under the ban on discussing account restrictions nor the ban on asking how long it takes for support to reply, but if I am mistaken, my apologies and feel free to delete this topic.

How long does it usually take before posts go through

Depends on the owner of the community you are posting in. If they don’t like what you have to say then they may never approve your post.

Are they pending approval from itch staff, game devs or both?

itch.io staff only reviews pending posts in our public community. In some cases we may review pending posts in developer communities that are flagged as spam (think links to viagra ads, presumably not what you’re posting)

Where can I view my posts that are pending approval?

Unfortunately there is no way to list them at this time, you will have to had saved the URL of the page that was displayed to you at the time of posting

Is it possible to edit or delete them while they are in limbo?

No, you can only delete them from the page that was displayed to you after you made the attempted post

Will receive a notification when they go through or are rejected?

No notifications are generated at this time as far as I remember

Makes sense. Thank you!

So it turns out, that when itch automatically puts a comment in limbo pending review, the owner of the community where it is posted is not informed of the comment and apparently cannot view it, much less approve or decline it.

If itch staff only approves/declines such posts in the public community or when flagged as spam, then I suspect quite a large number of users' indefinitely pending posts either have already or will soon  (depending on when this came to be the case) accumulate in limbo, inaccessible to itch staff, community owners and the poster without URL, possibly using up valuable server space.

In addition, the "Go back" and "Delete my post..." buttons don't work. The former is an actual JS button with click-animation, but it doesn't take you to any page. The latter isn't really a button to begin with, but it also isn't a link, nor a dropdown menu, which it sort of looks like.

This topic has been auto-archived and can no longer be posted in because there haven't been any posts in a while.
