It totally is a self promotion. You should advertise your website on your devlog and game/tool page and your creator page. In public community, this is frowned upon.

You can try in feedback subforum, but read the rules below carefully. (You need to click the triangle near View this community's rules…to open the rules on each subforum. Those below are the rules for the feedback subforum). Especially the one about itch projects only. Pitching your personal blog/website should be done on facebook or other social media. Itch ist not social media. The main advertisment and promotion for your things must come from outside. Be it social media or google. You or your software need to be popular to get traffic from within itch.

A general answer to your question why you do not sell more of your software, well, why should you? I assume you speak about your accounting software. It is not finished and while devs do face the situation of needing to deal with taxes and accounting, you are not an established business software developer. Would you trust your finances to an indie developer?
