Feedback on 3D Models

Hi everyone! I’m currently working on my game Harvest Hollow and I’m unsure about the look of my models. All models are low poly but some, like the player and flowers are shaded smoothly while the others, like the animals, are flat. I’m not sure what works best for the look of the game, what do you think?

I’m also planning on creating a new model for the player soon, should it have a more blocky look like the animals, or have more details?

Thanks for your feedback!

(There isn’t yet a goal in the game, but to unlock the content you can stand on the “+100” field to get enough money)

I like the look of the game. The low poly looks like a  quirky style. It didn't bother me that the red bits - flower and insect - were smoother than the animals.  If I hadn't read this, I wouldn't have noticed it.

The round character in a blocky world makes it stand out - like the person is a visitor in a low poly world. Depending on the game, that could actually be a cute feature.

Thank you for your feedback! Maybe I've just been looking at them for too long so the mix of the blocky and smooth started looking weird to me, haha. But if it's not as noticeable/bothering then I won't mind it too much when creating new models and just use what looks better to me for the individual objects.

The player standing out like that is actually a good point I hadn't thought of! Perhaps I will use the concept of them being a visitor in the world when creating the new player and NPC models, thanks! :D

The visual style of the game is interesting!

Some things being smoother than others has good potential to highlight distinct characters or objects. And you can have funny reasons as for why they look different lol. Since the main character stands out,  maybe they can be looked at as the "weirdo from some other place" and have many jokes and hijinks ensue. But then they start respecting you when you get a successful farm lol. And maybe the things that aren't the character but also happen to be smooth, have subtle nods to being more than they seem. Everything that's smooth can have a certain role in the story (if there is one) while the low polys have a different role.

The 100+ button is nice, but slightly defeats the purpose of selling things. Maybe it can be a reward instead of just sitting there... or maybe it's just fine as it is.

Feel free to give my game a try, I could use your feedback: https://wasabiiii.itch.io/grass-elemental-demo-demo

I think this game can be enjoyable to people, good job!

That’s a good idea! I think I’ll use something like that in the story, like maybe the players character has to find all the other smooth items to remember where they’re from. :D

The +100 button is only there right now to be able to look at all the content, since in the current state you wouldn’t be able to unlock anything unless you wait for the chicken to lay about 50 eggs, I will probably remove it in a few updates when there’s actually a way to progress without it. :D

Thank you so much for the feedback! I will download and check out your game later today :)
