We have recently updated our game by posting new builds, updating screenshots and adding a dev log describing the changes.

But for some reason we still didn't show up in the recent section.

I definitely remember that I often saw quite old games there that were recently updated.

Did something change in the promotion algorithms?

No, it's because your Major Update devlog has to be seen by staff before your game is put back at the top.
