Hello everyone ; Today I offer you a tutorial in which we will make a walking animation.

Here is the model that we will use as a reference for the animation.

Pixel Art Walking Animation

This is what the final product will look like.

Pixel Art - Walking Animation

First of all ; we make a first frame in which our character lifts a foot off the ground by one pixel and sends the second back. For hands ; we will adjust their position so that they have an opposite direction to the side of the foot to which it corresponds (if the foot is moving backwards, the corresponding hand is forwards and vice versa).

For the second and third frame; we continue to animate the hands in the previous way but for the feet we the previously raised foot will find itself a little forward and on the ground on the other hand the second will be redirected backwards without contact with the ground.

Then for our fourth and fifth frame a step back is necessary and this time the feet and the hands will follow movements opposite to those made previously.

Then we will add 3 other frames in which the foot that was backwards will be much more forward and vice versa for the other limbs.

Finally a last frame marking the end of the cycle similar to the starting model should be added for more fluidity.

The final product contains 10 Frames.

I hope you enjoy :-) .

Interesting tutorial.

While I probably wouldn't use it personally because I have my own way of doing walk cycles, this may work for people who are doing something specific to this style if it is their intent.

I could go into detail on why I wouldn't but at the same time, I really don't want to make this into a thing where I force feedback since that's not really your intent here to have that. I do like your moxie on helping others in spite of that.

Thank you!

let me share you a little tip I learned over the years
if you push the whole character up when one of the legs is straight
the walk appears a bit more dynamic:

of course this part is kind of subjective - depends on what you prefer 🤔

Thanks, that's a very interesting tip :-) .
