If you have suggestions and ideas for us please feel free to share them with us!

Pros:

- The line on each panel is short, about one or two sentences which is good. I am frequently engaged clicking through the panels.

- Art is nice

- The story is understandable

- The cliff hanger / ending / conceit is interesting enough that I would consider playing a full version of the game, would be happy to provide further feedback on subsequent versions.

Things to improve:

- The story itself could be punchier or more compelling. It drags a bit with backstory and details that do not seem directly pertinent to the main mystery.

- Some backstory is fine, and the options presented are somewhat interesting, but there is room to make them significantly more interesting.

- IMO the dialogue itself should be able to function as a page-turning short story on its own (doesn't matter that the medium here is a video game).

- It is unclear how much of the biographical detail of Luce's life is necessary to the story. Would suggest cutting some details and focusing on tighter plot points / beats / twists to engage the player.

- Did not really get the 'weird music' that was supposed to play twice. There should be an actual strange sound effect associated with this, not just the visual effect.

Misc comment:

Regarding the future update of "Deeper philosophical discourses on longing & belonging", it is important that the story manages to appeal to a broad audience. I get a sense that there is an autobiographical element to this video game that the authors may be projecting like the contents of the diary and the presence of a banana duck plushie (which in itself is fine), but it is important to figure out how to reframe elements of it so more people can relate on a personal level (which is difficult to do with content creation).

Would be happy to be a beta version tester and provide more detailed real-time feedback as the project progresses: wakeupplayerone@gmail.com

Hey WakeUpPlayerOne  (love the name btw :D) ! Thanks a ton for the feedback you gave us!
We really appreciate it. We'll keep your suggestions in mind and work on making the game even better.

Thanks for helping us out and being a part of the journey!!

Love the art! Favourite panel is definitely the creepy library scene.

I'd change the text area though - I think the name could use more padding from the top border, and having the gradient of transparency makes the text more difficult to read in my opinion.

Hey Xerys!

Thanks for trying out our demo! That scene was one of our fav one when it came to illustration as well :D (that and the bedroom scene)
And love the suggestions! We will be working on some UI and accessibility upgrades for the full game! Will keep you suggestions in mind!

Hey there!
Finally got around to trying the Demo!
I loved it. You've got a great game here.

Esthetically, the art and interface all match and has a whimsical, eerie, surreal effect that matches the tone of the story. Great job!

The pacing is done very well. The dialogue and information fit well and was easy to read and the information provided in each section was just enough to make me want to keep clicking.

The story itself was impressive! It kept me guessing what might have happened, what the story was about, who I am, and what all these strange things were that the MC wouldn't tell me about. The cliffhanger at the end made a great way to "close" the demo but also leave us wanting more and to play the full version. I need answers! Vague yet informative. Gives us just enough info to tease without releasing everything and we know exactly the vibe, type of gameplay, and random goodies that will eventually be revealed.

It is too bad it's not a browser game, as I would probably have played this sooner if it was. I try not to download a lot of things to my computer in general. I know that might be a RENPY limitation though. So, after this main version is finished, I would suggest perhaps even a mobile app version that you can end up monetizing.

Overall, 100% amazing job and I wish you luck in the competition! I have no doubt it will make it to the top 32. Kudos!

Hey Talon!!! Thank you so much for the detailed feedback here  <3

And you are 100% right about making this easily accessible on other platforms!
Personally most of the VN's we've played have been browser based for the same reason.

Once we have the final version of the game ready  (with all the goodies we promise) porting it to  various platforms will be one of our priorities!
