60 Years in Space

An extremely crunchy d6-based hard sci-fi table top roleplaying game. · By half-a.press

Is there a "how to play" flowchart, or something of that nature?

I'm gobsmacked by the amount of effort that went into this (and the amount of material), but I'm lost on how the process of actually playing the game is supposed to go. Pg 16 of the corebook talks about exploiting resources and setting up factories but trails off after introducing the idea and later references don't clear up much. How are missions decided? What are the steps of going there-and-back-again? Does it require the High Frontier boardgame or can that be worked around?

All of this is probably in the books, but the way my brain works I work a lot better with a bullet list in one place.

The core rules assumes you have bought and played the board game so doesn’t spend a huge amount of detail on this - something I’ll have to rectify as this is more of a break out hit than I expected.

This Space Intentionally spends a lot more time on this. The launch pads chapter is designed to give you a feel for running some space missions as if you were playing the board game. The Missions chapter then outlines the process you’ll follow travelling from site to site.

Oh. Well, that's less than ideal.

The main store page doesn't indicate at all that this is intended as a supplement to High Frontier - I had been under the impression that it was its own game that /could/ use the High Frontier map.

It is entirely standalone. You don’t even need the High Frontier map.

But if you haven’t played the High Frontier board game, you may want to invest in the equivalent of the Dungeon Masters Guide.
