This process has been made by @DelgadoRenaud . He already have working PixelFX on his Mac using VMware. Now he got working with wineskin. So if you want to test here are the steps. If you have any doubt contact him via twitter.

For anyone who wants to try on a stable version of macos :

brew install wine

winetricks corefonts
winetricks d3dcompiler_43 <-- if d3d error

WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine64 winecfg
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine64 wine Pixel\ FX\ Designer.exe

--> Should works

Thanks for supporting non-windows!

I'm on macos and unfortunately this didn't work for me. I've been at it a few hours and I'm giving up for now, waiting for that sweet mac-release ;)

The mac release seems to not work proprely on Mac High Sierra. The file is damaged and couldn't be opened :/

The Mac release runs fine just be in mind some classic problems:

Thanks for links but I've tried and it doesn't work at all, I keep blocked at the step 2 where I'm supposed to allow the app from the setting menu. The option doesn't shows up

Have you tried allowing full permiss manually? Changing the exported folder to another location? Have you exported with .zip software or with the built-in mac zip to decompress(Recomended) ? Have you tried adding on a .dmg file and execute it? All this fixes/solutions are in the links, have you tried all of them and none worked?

We had people with the same problem about the file is damaged or similar but all them fixed in one or other way and working without problems.

Try to look in google about how to fix the “Downloaded .app is damaged and can't be opened” problem to see if some one works, in that case please, let us know which solution worked for future users with the same problem.

Maybe this can work for you?:

The "anywhere" option didn't show up for me either at first, I had to follow the steps on this page to have it working: https://howchoo.com/g/yty3mdvkyty/how-to-download-apps-from-anywhere-in-macos-si...

Other guy with the same problem reported fixed too with:

That worked, thanks!
Steps
* Run 'sudo spctl --master-disable' in terminal to allow apps downloaded from anywhere
* Right click on 'Pixel FX Designer' app and click 'Show Package Contents'
* Move 'Contents' out of the app folder
* Open 'Contents/MacOS/Mac_Runner'
