Contrary to popular belief, the concept is often the hardest part of developing a horror game. In this tutorial I break the process down into five steps:

  • Coming up with a base idea
  • Making a protagonist
  • Making an antagonist
  • Finishing up / Tweaking
  • Addressing common pitfalls

By the end of the tutorial, you should have a concept like the following:

Robbie, a 15-year-old boy, is at home watching a news report on a monster called “The Creeper” that’s thought to be responsible for several murders in the area. Suddenly, the power cuts because the monster has found him. It’s a toon-style first person game.

Please tell me if the tutorial helped at all. Thanks 😊
