Is real-time a turn down for puzzle games?

Hi all, our game is mixing real-time action with puzzle mechanics and we would like to hear your opinion about that. We just uploaded a demo on our page for this purpose https://pepitestudios.itch.io/peppysadventure

Thanks for your feedback.

Depends on how difficult the puzzles are.  And how difficult the real-time action is.

Nicely done puzzle game! I would keep the real-time aspect of it -- a lot of people get turned off by tedious turn-based mechanics. And definitely keep the "rewind time" feature. What an excellent way to try something different without having to start all over!

I tried the feature where you slow time down, but I think it would be more helpful if after X amount of time you highlighted a certain square to give you a clue of where to go.

I feel like there should be more time to observe the level before it starts.  Because once the countdown hits 0, the foxes have sometimes already started moving and the player is still trying to get oriented.

But other than those two things I think your game is on the right track, it's an interesting blend of puzzle game and Pac-Man.

Thanks for your feedback! You can actually observe level as long as you want if you hold the time-rewind button from the start, everything will stay frozen. But maybe we can make it more obvious. We have added some hints in levels we believe are the most tricky already but it's not for all levels.

I tried testing this game on Linux (Lubuntu 22.04 LTS), and it doesn't work.  Error message:

./Peppy: error while loading shared libraries: libGLEW.so.2.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

(I do have GLEW installed, but it's at version 2.2.)

Oh sorry about that, you need to install libopenal1 and libglew2.1 on linux.

One user reported that it worked fine for them with libglew2.2 with a symlink:

ln -s /usr/lib/libGLEW.so.2.2.0 /usr/lib/libGLEW.so.2.1
