Showcasing audio assets for developers

I make music and post it on here (ideally!) for other developers to use in games or other projects. Because itch doesn’t have a lot of explicit tools to showcase audio assets in the same way they would for visual assets, what kinds of things do you look for and what would you ideally see in audio assets to help decide if they’re a good fit for your projects? All the way up from the assets page on itch when you’re browsing to the actual audio asset page.

  • Are there bits of technical information you want to see in the asset page?
  • Genre and tempo?
  • Would defining a mood help more?
  • For music, do you want to know how long something is up front?
  • Files specifications? Are you immediately going to turn down a 44.1khz file for some reason?

I’m sure there’s more stuff to get into but what are people looking for and how can I make things as pleasant as possible as the person posting audio asset projects?
