Hey guys I'm back. This time we're drawing a Uragnite from Final Fantasy 11 . If you want to read about it, you can here. Here's some reference images.

Ok cool so I'll be using 32px. First thing we need is a sketch. I'd draw just the body ignoring the arms and feet, but I will add the facial features.

This is a good base, we can then branch out the arms and feet. The reason I didn't draw the arms first is because we want to make sure we don't accidentally block the eye. Also make sure there is room for the arm on the border, you may have to adjust the sketch like I did.

I'm going to grab some colors and mild shading. Take note of his textures, his shell has moss and barnacles. His tentacles also have thorns.

So here I was experimenting around mainly with the textures. You can see the moss is just a few shades of green I dotted around, note how I use a little shadow beneath it to give it slight thickness. For the barnacles you can probably sprinkle around a patch of dark dots and try to add shadows around each of them. Same for the thorns on the arms, you can slightly darken around them.

Now I'm going to polish it at show you the final result. (This takes a while)

So here you can see everything reads clearly. You can see his eye, but also the gil beside it. He has great light and shadow defined as well as strong contrast. Note how I use many subtle colors to texture each surface of his design, the shell is very reflective and rough due to the barnacles for example. The moss is green, but also blue. I think it just gives it a more watery look since the creature probably associates with water. So those are my last words regarding this design. Thanks for checking out my post. See ya next time!
