Hi everyone,

I would like to keep my app portable and I don't want to use AppData or other folders like this. This app can download contents that going somewhere at the root of the app. Is it possible when we want to use the itch client to delete an app but not some files ?

Hey there,

I’m not sure if that’s possible, but I also don’t understand what you are trying to achieve.

I would like to keep my app portable

What exactly do you mean by that? How is leaving files in a user’s system helps with it?

This app can download contents that going somewhere at the root of the app.

Do you mean a project is meant to modify the app in some way?

Keep in mind users have the options to run projects with the Itch.io app in Sandbox, so they are not allowed to interact with anything on the OS apart from the project files themselves.

The app of our team is a frontend for users to show up and manage their games collection. This frontend is also themable, so users can write their own themes or download other themes made by the community. The itch app client and the butler tool look pretty interesting for us for easy update management. So if the user want to delete our app for whatever reason, maybe he will want to keep the theme he works on or other things like this. We want all of this to be portable to allow the user to copy the whole install on amovible storage and use it on every PC that meets the requirements.
