Hey, I've started working on a wave based survival game. Something simple but hopefully gets the attention of people :D. I am creating this in Unity. No specific reason I just prefere it over unreal. The plan is to have a released game on steam and this is the project I will be making to do that.
Heres my twitter by the way
The game is based in ancient Egypt and you got to fight off waves of mummies. At the moment I only have the basic shooting and movements (shooting is 100% going to change). You will have a space in the level where you can build barriers & turrets (Im sure more ideas for buildings will come later). These will help get the highest wave possible.
I will update this part when I have a plan I am happy with but at the moment im just working on small things while I am doing my full time job.
At the moment the mummies use a NavAgent that chases the player and when close enough they will hurt you and eventually kill you. The super basic features are there: spawn, kill, get points, spend points. Just trying to figure out the next thing to do.
I love this screen shot. Need to try get better one with the enviroment models
Here is a couple of models that I got made. (I did not make them)
I have finally added an attacking animation for the mummys, all the animations used I found on Mixamo as its just easier for now to use them. Here a little gif showing it off
Instead of the mummys dying and after 10 secods they just get deleted they now shrink until they are completly gone. Adds a little niceness in my opinion. I am going to try add a partical effect so they poof instead but for now this works great.
I have no replaced the shooting with ray cast but yet still to add the particals to the weapon so you now when your shooting.
There is now a small flash to the weapon so you can see when you are shooting. Will need to add something to where it hit also.
I have been working on using the new input system so it makes it easier for adding/changing controlls. You will be able to play the game with a controller which I love. Its been hard process getting used to the third person camera and input system but it will be worth it when its all smoothed out. I have essentially redone the entire player controller. I have to re add the weapon and enemies.
I honestly hope you like the idea and if you got any feedback or suggestions I will be happy to read them
At the moment work has been abit full on so I dont have much time to work on the project but the moment I can and feeling up to it I will be. Updates will be slow for now =]
