Can I use a Windows MSI installer for my game in itch.io?

Howdy folks,

This should be a simple one to answer :) My game called Sojour is a windows game and is currently installed using a standard windows msi installer. Are these compatible with itch.io? Or will I need to use something else?

The installer creates the game directory under program files, copies the files there, registers a file type, creates a user desktop shortcut and creates the user data folder under their documents folder, complete with some data. Would the alternative be able to do all this?

Thanks

We recommend simply putting the game in a zip archive so that the Itch app can handle it. But if your game requires installation, then oh well.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will see if there is a way to use a combination of zip and command line stuff, but if I have to use an msi, then presumably that could just be uploaded?
