for the last 4 years I have been trying to find a team. for the last 10 + years I have spent my time as a indie music producer/ sound designer.

My question is would I have to know programing to join your team?

In no good world should people know programming to do non-programming things. So no from me, not if I were assembling a team.

really. where have you guys been. ive been trying to join a team for a long time now. its gotten to the point I was forced to learn pixel art (last four years) and programing (1 month of C#) because at every turn I got met with this question (do you know programing?) and every time I said no I got told no I cant join.

Then I say this is because you’re working with morons who themselves don’t know any programming. They probably went to Unity because of its ease, realized that it means nothing in practice and now they want you to work more than you bargained for.

I would never ask a composer to program in their job. I know what I’m doing and even if I didn’t, programming stays firmly in my territory. With sound design it’s more of a gray area, but I don’t expect it to be something the programmer of the team can’t do.
