Can I make "in development" project site for game assets?

Hi,

I'm preparing a release for a new music pack in game assets category. I'd like to try to promote it in advance and I'm thinking about making a "in development" status, project site. Project, while still "in development" will have no files to download. Just some text and maybe video trailer/teaser.

It would be useful for me as marketing tool, cause you can already "follow" exact project waiting for it's release.

Will itch.io accept this?

Hey there,

Will itch.io accept this?

Of course! That’s why the “in development` status exists. Feel free to include downloadable files, even if they are still work in progress. There’s no hard rules on what counts as “in development”, it’s up to you to mark your project as complete once it’s ready.

Hope that helps! Looking forward to seeing more of your projects around :)

What happens when I change project release status from “in development” to “released”? Will it be treated exactly like other new uploaded projects? Will my project show up in “Most recent” tab?

Hey there,

When your project is ready, make a devlog marked as “Major Update”. This is usually followed by a small review to make sure people are not posting “Major Update”s too often, and then your project will receive a bump, similar to that of a newly released game.
