You might be playing an old version. The wolf fight is not at the temple anymore. ^^ Dodging attacks and healing yourself should make the fight pretty winnable!
This is a bug and will be addressed in the next update! Sorry for the inconvenience. Another way around it right now is to start from the beginning room when you are at the warp room and pick no upgrades. This will let you play the game from the very beginning without accidental sequence breaks.
