Aside from the ravens, this is a good foundation. My problem is that ravens constantly destroy my buildings and kill my people, so I can't really progress.
You can always keep repairing your buildings and it should take quite a while for ravens to completely destroy them. Also it just needs several archers to properly defend the town.
