How do I save properly?

I've read the other comments and topics for help but for some reason I can't find one that helps me. The game works and I've tried changing the property of the game files to make sure they were not hidden or read only but it just wont work. I'm using Windows 7 so I'm using the 32 bit version. I've downloaded the WinRar(32) to extract the file into a folder and use the Java Platform SE Binary to open the game. Is there something there I'm not seeing? Also when I download the TalesofAndrogyny.jar file I can save but when I close and reopen the game i can't load to the save or save in general.

It's actually the folder they're in that needs to not be read-only! If it isn't, you should see a .toa-data folder created once the game starts up with the save files in it (it might be a hidden folder, but if it's not there, it's almost certainly a permissions issue).

What would I have to do if it was a permissions issue?

Make sure the folder it's in isn't read-only. Try putting the ToA folder somewhere like your desktop, and make sure it and its subfolders aren't set to read-only. You could also try running the game in admin mode, though that wouldn't be necessary in general.

Yup. that worked. Thanks for taking the time to help!
