Hello, first of all I want to say, incredible game so far, first of all I was impressed with the graphics of this game, and not just the fact that the world looks amazing and actually evokes creepiness without relying on mindless gore, it is also the fact that we have this pixelated protagonist that somehow still fits in this world, but at the same time gives this uncanny feeling.

The puzzles are really nice and strike that perfect balance of "Not too easy that it's dumb but not too hard it gets frustrating" they actually feel very satisfying but I do expect the difficulty to go up as the game progresses; The tension that the game provokes is amazing, because nothing really happens for the first few minutes but that just plays into the mind of the player in a way that it's actually scarier that something happening.

When the scary stuff actually happens WELL it happens for sure, I like how it becomes quite surreal, like with the scene with the big eye, and he uh, bunch of legs; The use of the light switches and mirrors it's really nice and it shows how really well thought the plot is.

Now for the suggestions:

  • Maybe more items to grab, even if they don't serve a big purpose, it's nice to be able to collect things that you feel  can help you in a dangerous world, even if they end up doing nothing.
  • The controls were my biggest (actually only) problem in the game, they are a bit weird to say the least, granted I played on keyboard but I feel a lot of people don't have a controller and should have good controls too.  Maybe you can work with a combination of WASD-QE-SPACE or maybe Arrow keys - ZXCV- SPACE because running with ALT is just weird and unconformable  (Also please don't make it left shift, remember sticky keys).
  • I feel the menu doesn't quite fit with the game, I can't say why but it feels kinda generic?  Maybe it also has too do with the very little emphasis the game has in items (I do like my games with a lot puzzle items) because a rotary item menu comes to my mind (See Silent Hill 1)

I think that's all, and again aside from the controls that I do feel need to be improved, all other stuff can be ignored because like I said, I love this game, you mentioned:

"This is the moment of truth for enlightened. If you see the project worth diving into, then give me a sign. If not... let it drown in 1 star hell..."

This is the sign I can give, I would love to see this project completed and I will support it! (Mostly by telling other people to come and play it).

You have some real talent please don't let it go to waste.

Hi!

Thanks for playing :)
Appreciate the feedback!
About the items - this is done on purpose. I did want to overwhelm players with a lot of stuff at the beginning. For the same reason it is also linear, which gives time to learn the game mechanics before jumping into the water. After second mirror jump "linear" part will go away, also I have plans for multi item puzzles, so there will be stuff to collect ;)

About the controls - you got me here. I usually play on gamepad, so that is way I had trouble finding the right controls layout.
But luckily - this is quite easy to fix.  Remapping for keyboard is just the matter of minutes. So I can go with  Q - inventory, E - examine, SPACE - run (I will leave ENTER as second examine/accept option).

You mentioned no save points, that is something I am currently working on (mentioned in topic started by Stella Abbasi), so before jumping through the mirror, there usually will be save point (as there is a thin line between challenge & frustration).

Glad you liked the puzzles :) I'm long time escape room fan. I've got lot of ideas for more of them, hopefully you would be able to see it :)

Thanks again for feedback, comments like this give me power to go on with the project :)
