In Greek mythology, Charon is the boatman of Hades, who carries the souls of the newly dead on the waters of the river Styx and Acheron, who shared the world of the living from the world of the dead. A coin to pay for it on the way was sometimes placed inside the mouths of corpses, according to the funerary tradition of Ancient Greece.
Here the boatman is you, control your boat through the serene waters of the underworld to fulfill your duty and receive your earnings for it. The more spoils you collect the more satisfying your boat will be. Beware of entities and beings that inhabit the depths, they long for their possessions.
