Performance Issues

I have about 150 bots doing their things and i'm only able to hit 11FPS with a 4790k @ 4.8GHz and a 980Ti. The CPU is hit with about 30% and the GPU is downclocking and is only @ 10-20% usage. I really wish this will change with upcoming updates because it steals the fun for me. I have no more fun playing after it is constantly getting worse with every bot i'm adding.

Are you using the x86 or x64 client?  When I first started trying Autonauts out I was using the x86 client and noticed lag.  I swapped to the x64 client around v5 and haven't had any problems since.

I'm using the 64 bit version. It's only using 500MB of RAM so 32 bit shouldn't be an issue there.

We'll be optimising at some point, there's plenty of room for us to improve. Until then one thing that will help is reducing the number of objects you have in the world (like stacks of logs) if you have anything like that.

I had a huge stack of iron and first i thought it was the iron stack that caused it but now it is gone and the performance is still as bad as when the pile was there. Maybe it's 2 fps more. In the unity launcher i lowered the quality but it did not seem to help.

it looks like that Storage Boxes overlapping or having to much blueprints will make the game a bit slower without the GPU or CPU scaling up, they sit nearly betwean 20% and 25% and it makes no different if the Game runs on 4 CPU Cores or 8. If i force the Game to only use 4 Cores it goes up to 10% more.

The Game runs much better after removing every second Storage Crate  and removing all unbuild Structures. Storing from 2-4k Items is propably not the big problem. what i think is the Size of the Crate is - becaus they are a bit bigger as their colision boxes so their Back sides are cliping in eachother.

In that Save are about 300 Storage crates and most of them are back to back, if i count that right their are 128 pairs that Overlap that way.

But using the whistle to freez the Bots will massivly speed up the Game. I only Count 100 Bots, maybe i overlooked some because not all have their blue Tag on top. I got around 180 Bots, 77 are inactive without Code and i do have not the same Effect in my Save after the whistleing.

Edit:

Thank you for your analysis i'm trying your tips and see where it stands then.
