Downloads Disappearing after download and app missing file on startup

Whenever I try to download something it will say error or could not download after the download reaches 100%. I have tried using different browsers and turning off windows defender. I also have an issue with the app where whenever I run the setup and then open the app it says

Something went wrong

itch-setup, v1.24.0, built on Jun 29 2020 @ 17:24:16, ref 083c5ca31bf1ee69dc9a7ece8ffb65ef3e421255

exec: "C:\\Users\\(my user)\\AppData\\Local\\itch\\app-25.4.1\\itch.exe": file does not exist

Encountered a problem while launching itch

Does anybody know how to fix this?

You have virus or security software that is deleting the file because it came from the internet. Try temporarily disabling that software, or find security software that works better.

There’s very likely something on your computer that you didn’t fully turn off.

This is a very common report we get and the diagnosis is always rogue security software. Hope that helps
