So, this game is super cool. I really enjoyed playing what's there a lot and it seems like it has a lot of potential to be a seriously good game. I like how you can adjust how forgiving the combos are and stuff, that's a new thing I haven't really seen before in games. The art, animation, controls, and music all feel really fluid. My only problem is the bounce and the airdrop/slide thing, because they have somewhat conflicting combos and also the spot you have to put in the bounce combo above the bounce blocks is really really precise and it feels somewhat janky when you're chaining multiple bounces. IDK might just be a skill issue since I'm not great at precise combos and things that require extremely fine motor skills.

A few things I would like to point out/suggest:

1. There's a missing collider up in the top left of the outside business district (I think, I last played a month or two ago, you might have fixed it or I might have forgotten where it was)

2. The GUI doesn't scale properly when the game is windowed, especially in the case of the subway map, so it's hard to see what station I'm selecting. If you could set up some kind of scale factor for that it would help immensely.

3. Maybe instead of relying on combos to accelerate as fast as possible, add some kind of item that allows you to hold a button and accelerate? Like some kind of upgrade for the booster or roller skates or something?

4. A weapon system with different guns/melee weapons would be super cool if you had to pick and choose what weapons you wanted to use. For example a railgun that shoots an incredibly fast explosive bolt but has huge recoil, takes time to charge, and uses a lot of your energy, or some kind of plasma shotgun that shoots tons of medium-damage bullets in a spread. I think if you added a few different weapons or armor or something to allow for customization according to the user's preferred playstyle, it would vastly improve the game and make it less strictly linear, because who knows where you might find a new gun! It would add an exploration aspect to the game.

I think that's about everything I thought of while playing. Keep doing what you do best and don't overwork yourself! :)

Thanks for the review! I'll see if I can tweak the bounce hitboxes to be a little larger, I don't want something so fundamental to be awkward.

  1. That's just an oversight by me, I'll fix it next update
  2. That should actually be fixed in the current build.
  3. There's a Surf item in the works. I kinda like the slide kick combo to go fast, but it's open for reworking.
  4. Nope, not happening. I agree it'd be cool, but it would take a lot of time that I'd rather spend on world expansion and enemy design. As far as attacks go I want to be able to control them so they mesh well with the rest of the gameplay. I will have different combo attacks to unlock though. That's sort of in line with what you suggested, and it'll definitely help the player out with exploration.
