Adding more realism and complexity to your game scenes is now easier than ever with the advancing technologies and techniques. Here is a Material Blending shader for Unity URP which works on the principles of Vertex Painting. You can mix and match various materials to add complexity and texture variations to your games driving up the realism factor even more.

This Material Blending Shader supports the blending of 2 Materials. For Material Blending to work, you need a mesh with sufficient mesh density.

Usage Instructions -

  • Assign the appropriate maps of each texture (foreground and background) to their respective slots.
  • Use polybrush's vertex painting to paint the mesh with either black or white
  • Use White to reveal Foreground Texture and Black to reveal Background Texture.
