Moonshot Plan

My plan for this game is for it to become a full release as when i made it for game off 2020 it was just a demo so know it is going to be worked on and turned into a full release. The city part will have 20 levels the moon will have 20 levels and the faculty 20 too. I will gradually introduce new mechanics to keep the game intresting.

Today I added 6 new guns to the game. And you can cycle between them using the number pad but you must have number lock on for it to work.

I also started creating the second level the train tracks are in the background in the city and the trains also move.  Next i will be polishing that up and redo the shooting so that the gun can rotate. I would also like to try and make some new pixel art for the enemies or animate the current ones so they look better and seem more polished. In this second level i will be introducing the shooting mechanic to the player and the first enemy type.

Graphics Overhaul:

I wasn't too happy with the current graphics in the game so i have completely redone them:

City level 3 and story

I have started planning out the third level in the city for the game after the train station you are on top of the moving trains fighting the enemies. Also i have began doing some work on the story for the game which i wont share incase anybody would like to try out the game on launch.

I think in the next couple levels i will introduce a dash ability for the player. Comment if there are any cool mechanics for the player you would like to see.



I have polished up the game a bit. The eneimes falsh red for a split second when they take damage and the different guns deal a different amount of damage. Also i created some scene transitions between the levels so that it feels a lot nicer. And i'am working on ingame dialouge so you can hear how the character is feeling

Creeper games helped me create a new dialog system for my game so that is now in place and works better than before now.

Also i have began work on level 4 and the next enemy type has been introduced.

I have continued work on the story.

I think in the next level I will introduce a new mechanic list some suggestions below if you have any!

There is now a dash ability in the game that is introduced in the 5th level. During playtesting today i realised there is a lot of bugs with the dialogue such as getting hurt whilst the dialog is playing means you can restart. Some i am thinking of other ways to tell the story to the player like a journal page appearing on the screen that the player has wrote talking about how they are feeling what they are going to do or a block of text showing how the player is feeling then the level loads up If you have any other ideas for how i could go about it list them below. 

I have polished up the dash ability there is now a particle effect when you dash. I have being working on the city level 5 and this is the level the dash ability is introduced.

Also I'm looking for an 8 bit dash sound effect if you can send me one that would be much appreciated.


Also i have fixed some difficulty scaling issues. The UFO'S speed gradually increases across the different levels.



Today i added a new enemy type for the game it is like the old patrol enemy but smaller and quicker they can be killed with one shot from any gun.

Also i have began designing a main menu for the game here is a pic of the scene so far:

The reason the drone is there because during game off 2020 i created an ai pet for the player that would kill enemies but i removed him last minute tell me if you want the drone pet back in the game


Development is on hold as imam participating in a game jam for two weeks i will be back on January 24th on this game

As you are aware from the last post development as been put on hold but that game i created for the game jam is finished I'm just waiting for Sunday to come around so i can release it on itch.io. It is a game about swapping gravity and avoiding spikes to reach the objective.

But back to moonshot plan i have been working on a pet for the player since the player can only shoot left and right i created something that will hit the targets you can't reach. There might even be some levels where you have to take control of the drone to carry out certain objectives.

I created him myself i might add some animation to him at some point.

The drone fires out bullets dealing some damage to the enemies. For now he can just damage them and an impact effect will play. Soon i will be adding sound effects to him.

This was a picture of him killing an enemy.

So that he isn't overpowered i have reduced his damage and fire rate. 

At some point in the future i will be introducing some more enemy types that are more of a threat to the player.

I'm thinking of putting the source code for the drone on itch.io tell me what you think below.
