Hello,

I am interested in buying Pixel Art Top Down - Village, but I need to confirm one thing first.

I am using a custom canvas-based top-down Map Builder, not Unity.

Does the terrain tileset include complete autotile/transition tiles for grass/dirt/path/water, or is it mainly decorative terrain tiles?

Also, are the terrain sprites available as regular PNG textures/spritesheets that I can use outside Unity?

Thank you.

Hello,

I downloaded/purchased the pack to test it in a top-down 2D canvas/grid-based Map Builder.

I am trying to use the terrain assets, mainly grass, dirt, road, water and transitions, as a modular terrain base for the map. However, I could not find a clear autotile/bitmask configuration or neighbor-rule documentation in the package.

I found folders such as:

  • terrain_grass_base_01
  • terrain_dirt_base_01
  • road_core_01
  • transition_grass_dirt_01
  • transition_road_grass_01
  • transition_road_dirt_01
  • water_bank_01

But I could not find a file or documentation explaining, for example:

  • which tile is the seamless base tile;
  • which tile is the north/south/east/west edge;
  • which tile is the NE/NW/SE/SW corner;
  • which tile is the inner corner;
  • which tile is a straight road, road corner, T-junction, crossroad or road end;
  • which neighbor/bitmask rule should be used;
  • whether there is support for Godot TileMap, Tiled .tsx, Unity RuleTile, or any other autotile format.

My question is:

Does this pack include a ready-to-use terrain/autotile system with bitmask/neighbor rules?

If yes, where are the correct files or documentation to configure it?

If not, are the terrain assets intended only for manual/visual composition, and not for automatic autotiling?

I am asking because I need a system where the user paints a terrain type, for example road, grass, or water, and the editor automatically selects the correct tile based on the neighboring cells.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your quick response and for all the help.

I really appreciate the support and the fact that you listened to the feedback and added the 00_APPROVED_PRECUT_TILES folder. That makes the package much easier to use in real projects, especially for HTML Canvas and tile-based workflows.

I also wanted to ask: do you currently have, or do you plan to release, any character, creature, monster, NPC, or hero asset packs with directional animation spritesheets?

By that I mean spritesheets that include the different animation frames for characters or creatures, such as walking/movement in multiple directions, idle frames, attack frames, or similar RPG-style animation sets.

If you have any packs like that, or if they are planned for the Golden Legend ecosystem, I would be interested in buying them.

Thank you again for the excellent support.

Hi,

Thank you for the clarification and for preparing the updated package.

The new 00_APPROVED_PRECUT_TILES folder sounds exactly like what I need for my HTML Canvas / tile-based project. I’ll download the latest GoldenLegend_Fantasy_Asset_Pack_v1.zip and GoldenLegend_MapCreator_Full_Version_v1.1.zip and test the approved pre-cut tiles.

I also wanted to ask two quick questions:

  1. Do you plan to release more updates or improvements for this Golden Legend – Complete Modular Fantasy Asset Ecosystem package?
  2. Will the new Golden Legend – Wasteland Modular Asset Pack also receive the same kind of 00_APPROVED_PRECUT_TILES folder with validated ready-to-use tiles?

Thank you again for the support and for improving the package based on the feedback.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

I’m using Windows and the Browser Edition. I could not find a Desktop Version inside the package I downloaded.

The package I purchased is:

Golden Legend – Complete Modular Fantasy Asset Ecosystem

Could you please confirm if the updated version with the new 00_APPROVED_PRECUT_TILES folder is included in this same package, or if it belongs to another Golden Legend package?

Also, how can I access/download the updated package? I checked my current files and I could not locate the 00_APPROVED_PRECUT_TILES folder.

The main issue I’m trying to solve is that the PNG sheets are difficult to use directly because the labels are baked into the images, and the manual slicing/metadata workflow was not producing clean usable tiles for my HTML Canvas tile-based game.

The ready-to-use validated tiles folder sounds like exactly what I need.

Thank you.

I bought the package but I'm having a lot of trouble using it. The map builder crashes, and even when I tried to cut out the PNGs following the files, it doesn't cut correctly. How can I get help?
