Holy moly.
This one's a very nice game to play. To be honest I wasn't expecting much but I love the art direction and the gameplay is solid. I had to retry 3 times until I finished the first dream (nightmare?).
It took me a while to understand how to fend off those mighty eyes but it's a great experience. I gathered the 5 things the grandma wanted and I got the first flame. I can't wait for this game to be finished, I'm really looking forward to what the next nightmares will be.
I think the eye graphic when looking at a baddy looks a bit out of place with everything else that is so beautifully done. I love how the aesthetic is very simple and pleasant. Even being in the room and the "you've got mail" message felt really nice.
I think you've got something very solid that you got to keep working on. This is a great experience.
I got snatched 3 times so that's got to count for something. Great scares.
I gotta tell you, the intro vid and the instructions had me pumped. This is a great idea for a game. However, it was very hard for me to know what was an anomaly? I somehow got to 3 without knowing what to do and after I reset to 0 I could never go past 1.
Keep up the good work, make the anomalies more apparent and easier to spot, and I wish this one could've had more horror in it as well.
I think I got stuck right at the beginning? I couldn't figure what to do other than wander that infinite hallway and go back to the main room, I think the game must be clearer in what it expects the player to do, also, I think the control scheme is a little weird for keyboard+mouse
Other than that, I really really liked the style. I love how you can have 3d with 2d sprites and I think there's a lot of potential there for a good game. I really wish I was able to unravel more of the story as it looked very promising.
I love how the light played a huge role in exploration! It's so well done. I think if you had a soundtrack it'd make the game a bit creepier. I thought the candle puzzle was a bit difficult and the shapes one to be too easy. Maybe try to strike a balance. Oh, and for some reason, I don't think I ever found the moth lol
I like how this one makes me feel like a Silent Hill game, I really like the collection of photos, but I felt like this game would've benefited from better exposition to the story as well as a better soundtrack, more eerie music would have elicited a better sense of urgency especially when you encounter the being.
I like the night vision camera and the overall setting. Very creepy.
Something I'd pay attention to when polishing this game is probably make the UI text a little bit less intrusive, adding sound effects to the mothman and maybe sound cues for the actual moths. I can see playing this in different levels with the mothman patrolling everywhere. Cool stuff!
I can't believe no one showed up to centipetta's birthday...
This story is top notch. It feels very nightmarish and is a bit unforgiving with how the choices you have affect the outcome. I loved the riddles, loved the chase and I love how you merged different action elements into rpg maker!
So many details, and the last photo-real level is such a fresh take after the hand drawn stuff. The art is really good too! I really liked the demon cats!
Last night I was dreaming of being a raccoon, I still had my nifty hat with me. I roamed through the woods and I found a small hill where I had to hunt moths. Unfortunately, my time there ended and my nice dream became a nightmare. Eyeballs coming out of trees and eerie music around me. I was walking around and the earth shook and I fell to my death. What a nightmare.
This game reminded me of the old age of NES platformers where you had to roam the level and find cool stuff without any guidance. The art is very nice and cute, and it's a very good first step in game development. Keep up the good work and don't stop making games!
PS
Tambien hablo español!
Games made in rpg maker that aren't the usual rpg style are very close to my heart. Add some beautiful graphics and an excellent soundtrack, spiced with a very eerie story and you get Retelova (Scrambled elevator!)
I like how each demon has a different challenge for you, the only thing I'd suggest is I lost a lot during the sequence game because it didn't work with my mouse. I figured later I had to use the keyboard to play, so maybe disable the mouse? Other than that, it was a really nice experience! I'm sometimes wary of rpg maker games because they tend to feel repetitive or cookie cutter but this one definitely broke the mold. I hope you work more on the story and how these dreams (nightmares?!) are tied to the disappearances.
Really nice job!
I love games like Paper Please. I'm not sure if mine was buggy but I wasn't able to move the windows around. Having that capability would make the game a thousand times better. That way you can check more than one piece of info at a time, and you wouldn't have to continually close and open new windows. Keep it up!
Holy shit. What a great experience. It took me around 45 minutes to an hour to complete. It really feels like a nightmare after another. I can't believe how much could be done for a game jam.
I think the game suffers a bit from orientation issues and unclear objectives at time but maybe that adds to the nightmare feeling. Had my spine chilling for a LONG time. Very creepy.
I loved the concept! It's a really fun scavenger hunt that involves using the mirror's reflection to look for stuff that doesn't appear to the naked eye.
I got two spine chilling moments and that's great! Good atmosphere!
The only bad thing I encountered is the second door didn't open during my first playthrough and I spent a lot of time looking for a clue that didn't exist. Also, after the final clue, I was transported inside the fireplace haha.
Good stuff!

I really loved the atmosphere, and I liked the treasure hunt mechanic. I don't really feel like it feels the theme of the jam, but it's a good experience. For some reason, my RTX 3070 was super hot after playing it. I've seen some Unreal games having a simple video settings menu, this one didn't so I'm assuming it just went straight to Ultra.
Spoilers below:
The monster that appeared one shot me and I had to re-do everything again. At first I thought I should've read the descriptions of the monsters more carefully as the noise mechanic didn't really click with me the thing just followed me around, but there's nowhere (that I could find) that could be considered a hint to avoid the monster.
The bad thing is, the treasure hunt takes so long to do, that I think this game would benefit from a checkpoint after gathering all of the fossils. It's too much energy to do everything all over when the monster one shots you.
Paper Ghost has done it again with their latest game, offering a unique and engaging experience. While it doesn't lean into the horror genre, it feels more like a dynamic version of tower defense, which keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting.
The game feels great to play, with smooth mechanics and intuitive controls that make it genuinely enjoyable. However, I think the music could be more dynamic, especially given the house party setting. A soundtrack that evolves as time passes would greatly enhance the atmosphere and keep the energy alive.
One challenge I faced was distinguishing the body snatchers from the other characters. The only real clue was their ominous dial-up sound, which, while creepy, wasn’t always enough to identify them quickly. Making their bodily reactions more noticeable would definitely improve the gameplay and make these encounters more thrilling.
A fun feature to note is the "dog vision" mode. Don’t forget to turn it on for the full B movie experience! It adds a quirky charm to the game and is a delightful touch that fans of the genre will appreciate.
The game would also benefit from more sound effects during fights. Adding these would make the action scenes more immersive and impactful, bringing the combat to life in a way that’s currently missing.
Overall, Amaakir has crafted another excellent game, showcasing their creativity and skill in game development. Despite a few minor areas for improvement, this game is a testament to their ability to deliver fun and engaging experiences. I'm really looking forward to the next version of this release and seeing how they continue to innovate and refine their work.
