I didn't think about that. I'll do that when I get home from work.

The door doesn't seem to react to anything I do, unless I am doing something wrong. And I see! It doesn't make the game bad, I just thought referencing another game was odd, but as filler it's fine. Ah, alright, I wasn't sure if Gil was supposed to do that or not.

I tried your game! I got all four keys and I tried opening the door at the top afterwards but it doesn't seem to work. I must admit that I am baffled at the puzzles included. The hedge maze was a bit irritating, especially with the high encounter rate. The portals took me a while and I was happy to find the answer in the book to speed it up. I hope I'm not sounding overly critical, but the inclusion of an Undertale based puzzle was baffling. Especially since you took the time to write in several books to summarize the plot. You can get infinite money from Gil, so I was able to stock up on as many items as I wanted. I do want to be clear and say that I think this game is okay for what it is, but it could definitely use some work. I hope you keep working at it and improve!

Interesting game! I cleared Level 2, completed all the tasks but I assume there is no Level 3 because it did not show up for me. I also somehow got -1 stains. It's kind of hard to figure out, but I think I got the hang of it. I don't know what the blue on the Stamina is supposed to mean. I like the pixel art and music! Also, I bought upgrades, but I couldn't tell if I did actually buy them or not. I couldn't tell the difference in combat, and it took the part but then it would show back up in the upgrade screen.

Very simple, but after playing so many games where there's hundreds of bullets on screen, I appreciate this one so much! I liked it!

This was so close to being really good! I *really* did not like that the boss could turn the arena into ice physics. It almost felt like death was inevitable if there was a bunch of bullets everywhere. I also did not like that the charged spin attack took mana. It already takes time to charge the attack AND spin it. Mana didn't feel like it was needed to balance it. I came so close to beating the boss, but unfortunately didn't do it. I still think this was really well done despite my personal gripes.

Really fun idea and really fun concept! I love the concept of dealing damage to a goalie boss by scoring. But I feel like the first boss has WAY too much going on. You have to avoid a ton of projectiles while avoiding the enemy team and also choose a ball to shoot with AND keep an eye on your power gauge. I personally feel like the power gauge is unnecessary and adds just yet another thing to keep an eye on. Still, fun and neat game!

I really like the art and the music for the game! Controls were mostly good, but not being able to jump immediately after landing made Dr. Pencil more difficult than it should have been. It also felt like there was one unavoidable attack pattern. It also should have done something with the SPIN theme. Besides all of that, I had a good enough time with this to finish it! Decently fun, but could use improvements.

I win.

Really cool art, it's what made me check out the game. But then I have no idea what to do afterwards. It seems like there is one real time combat phase and then from that point on, nothing seems to work. If you happen to update this in the future, feel free to message me and let me know. I like really unique turn-based games.

I really like the concept and the presentation, but I admittedly wasn't a huge fan of two of the weapons, especially the hammer. For me, the range was too short and the wind up too long. I felt much better when I had the ball or spear. Overall though, I still enjoyed it!

I'm really bad at this xD But I had a fun time with it! I really liked the idea with the catapult!

I couldn't beat the third boss. I feel like some patterns were a pain, mainly with the first boss with it's splash attack plus the homing bullet felt annoying to dodge at the same time. Despite my own skill issues, this was a fun game! I love the presentation, especially the art style. Likes others have said, healing between bosses would have made me want to keep going until I beat all the bosses. I'd still say this is an overall solid game!

Great concept, I really liked the look of the game, and overall just a fun time! I did feel like while playing that the battles could stretch on a bit too long, but it wasn't a big deal. Definitely one of the better ones I've played so far!

Pretty fun and simple game, but I wish you would get more time answering the questions on that one boss.

I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but I ended up with a glitch on the second boss where I would succeed the spin for my attack over and over, but it would just keep resetting the spinner, and doing a successful spin didn't stop any attacks. I like the art style and music!

I had a pretty good time with this! Controls a bit weird, and for me, I felt it difficult to keep a good flow, but I assume I'd get better if I play it more. Good job on it! I'm jealous you can program slopes in Game Maker lol

This game is great! I love the art style!

This is pretty good! I got seventh (at the time). Really good job! :)

Hello! I really like the pre-rendered style, and I would like for you to be the artist for my team, if you're interested! Check my itch page for various games I've made this year. My Discord is zegenerate if you would like to chat!

Hey there! I love your sprite art! I sent you a friend request on Discord. My username on there is the same as my itch.io username.

I changed the combat system to make the battles quicker and less tedious. Now, only one player needs to go on Break in a duel instead of both. I also added code so that way the game shows you who your duel opponent will be and what card they'll be playing. This way, the player can make a more informed decision and there's less reliance on needing to constantly check everyone's cards so you can guess what they'll do.

I've released a short card-based RPG and I would appreciate some feedback! I was inspired by a bizarre combination of Pokemon, Gwent, and those Clickhole interactive stories if anyone knows about those. The writing is weird, and the combat is just as strange! I am curious what people would think of both the writing and especially the combat system. It's like a card focused Pokemon game, where instead of moves, the Pokemon have cards to play. Your party members gain more Funny (the mana resource of the game) at the start of each new round, and they get all of their cards back as well. If both players from both teams that are sent out to duel go on Break (not able to do anything), the current round ends and a new one begins. The How To Play in the page explains more. I'd like some honest critique on it. I had a lot of fun testing it out, but it could definitely be smoothed out. I was hoping players could give me some feedback to improve my writing or this combat system. Thank you for taking the time to read!

It's been a while! 69 days since my last post. Fitting, because this is the (late) April Fool's game! Who is the joke on? Me! It's admittedly pretty similar to my last project, but I tried to get a bit stranger with the cards this time. Also, this time you can play it directly on the browser instead of needing to download the executable!

Hello! I am looking for a writer willing to help me brainstorm ideas for an RPG inspired by sitcoms, where instead of them being battles they're called "situations" and instead of actively battling enemies, you must use comedic abilities to complete the goal of the scene before your enemies can. I'm having trouble coming up with characters and situations, and I was wondering if there would be a writer willing to help me out in brainstorming ideas. My Discord is zegenerate if you would like to chat. Payment is on the table, we can discuss it over Discord or if you would prefer e-mail, my e-mail is zegenerate@proton.me.

Update! I made a second prototype. This one took longer than I would have liked. I struggled to think of what to do with it, but I think I came up with something that might work!

My second alpha!

This one is a deck-drafting autobattler. You start with a really simple card called An Attack, then draft 4 cards to add to the deck along with it. Once you're done drafting, the other characters will draft their decks. You'll then pick 3 people to join your team based on what their decks look like. Once your team is assembled, you'll enter a 4v4 battle where the enemy team will choose a combatant for a stand off. You'll then be allowed to pick someone to challenge the enemy in a stand off. They'll both take turns playing a random card from their deck and the stand off ends when someone is defeated or if both participants can no longer play cards. The battle will loop between picking participants for a stand off and then the stand off until the stage is over. The stage is over when a team has been wiped out! There's currently only a singular stage. When it ends, you'll be sent back to draft a new deck to play again.

Hello! I'm Zegenerate, Zegen for short, and I've been wanting to make a game for a long time. I've been making prototypes for years, but never actually finished anything. So, I figured for this year, why not share the random prototypes I make and see if any catch some interest? I hope this is the right forum to post about this in because I plan on showing multiple projects in one post over time. Although if any project on here gets popular enough, then I'll update it based on feedback.

The first game is a rather simple card game. https://zegenerate.itch.io/zegen-card-alpha-1 I've thought of a bunch of characters for stories over the years, so I shoved them into this card game. You pick 6 cards to build a deck, although you'll start with all 6 cards in your hand. You and your opponent will play cards at the same time, switching back and forth between who gets to have their card effects resolve and attack first. The goal is to play cards and those cards have special abilities and an Attack value. They'll deal damage equal to their Attack value while also providing benefits like healing, manipulating cards, or being able to raise their Attack value to deal even more damage! There's around 18 cards to build a deck around. There are also 3 AI decks to face off against. The game will choose one at random for you to face off against. You can find a How To Play video on the game's page that goes into further detail and also provides some tips!

All feedback and criticism is encouraged! I am hoping to find people willing to try out these prototypes and let me know if it's something they are interested in seeing developed further. If you did not enjoy the game, let me know why and I'll update the game based on feedback. I appreciate everyone who gave this post a read, and here's hoping to a fun year of game development!

Those look great! I sent you a friend request on Discord!

Discord is preferred! I'm on there as zegenerate

Hello, 3D artists! I have some money saved up, and what better way to spend it than on pre-rendered backgrounds inspired by obscure, badly made 90s computer games? Looking for someone willing to make a couple backgrounds for a bizarre, short game I'm planning on making. You don't have to be a great 3D artist, and beginners are accepted! What I'm looking for is someone willing to do backgrounds similar to the screenshot I've shown below. For an added bonus, I'm looking for backgrounds of a similar quality. I'm not looking for highly detailed, high resolution textures. I want 640x480 backgrounds that try to emulate an authentic, weird 90s look. If you're interested in doing backgrounds like this, feel free to add me on Discord. I'm zegenerate.

If you have questions, feel free to ask here or on my Discord, and we can negotiate a price. Whether you want to work at a rate of per hour, per background, or just a one time payment for the full game.

Yeah, the hand drawn one.

This one is closer to what I'm looking for. Mostly profile shots or headshots for right now.

2D is what I'm looking for!

Monsters and UI would both be good for me! Draw whatever you'd be comfortable with, and take as much time as you want!

The game has no style as of yet. It's currently a black background, and the sprites are faces from thispersondoesnotexist. So the art style would be up to whatever the artist is comfortable with. I am interested, so feel free to give some examples! Although I'm not going to be too picky with art assets right now. I just want the game to look less empty.

Hello! I've been working on a game idea for about a month now based around an idea I had where it'd be an RPG with dekbuilding and auto-battling elements. I haven't seen any other game do what I've been trying to do, and I'd like to chat with and show people what I've got to gauge interest and look for criticisms, ways I can improve on the idea.

Also, if you're a character artist with free time who wouldn't mind doing unpaid art, I'd appreciate it! I'm not looking for much, just headshots to use as filler art to make the game slightly more appealing. Someone that could help with UI would also be greatly appreciated. But mainly, I'm looking for people who wouldn't mind taking the time to see what I got and let me know their thoughts! Mainly looking for people who have played deck-builders and/or auto-battlers before, but anyone is free to message me! My Discord is Zegenerate#4874

Hello! I am Zegenerate! I started on this game a couple days ago and would like to start a devlog to show my progress. The game is a sitcom roguelite RPG. The plot is not yet set in stone but for now it's about a night school that sucks the students in to the Night Dimension where they'll be attending school with demons. It takes inspiration from Community, Owl House, and Slay the Spire. The game takes place over a season of episodes. Each episode plays out almost like a floor in Slay the Spire. There's cutscenes, battles, and for every battle you win you get to upgrade your character. I do hope to soon release an alpha for gameplay feedback but for now I just have a video showing the basic premise of the game. I hope the commentary isn't too awkward. Feel free to post any feedback you have!

Hello! I'm about to start on a very short game centered around people being locked in a small location. I was hoping to find an artist who is free to do some character design and artwork for the game. I'm not looking for anything fancy. Mainly busts (colored or not is up to the artist). I'm aiming for the game to be a dark comedy in tone. Something where the situation is dire and serious, potentially life-threatening but the characters trapped in said location have cartoonish personalities. If you're looking to get some character design practice, wish to add something to a portfolio, or you're bored or intrigued by the idea feel free to add me on Discord! If all goes to plan, the game should not take more than a couple weeks to finish.

Hello! I'm not sure if you already found a project but I sent a friend request on Discord! I'm Zegenerate on there. I was hoping to find someone who could help me iron out the writing to flow better.
