I love the design of the ship and how you have a few different way to shoot the enemies. I think that replenishing the player's HP and shield every level is a little too forgiving. I would have liked to see pickups or some other rewards for shoot the enemies. I think this is a good first step and would like to see it expaned.
Neat idea. I like that you have to think about the score before going to the circle. There seems to be an issue with the shifting when I press the button, it goes really really fast. Maybe you accidentally checked for held vs released? I would love to see another way the player can fail other than falling off the screen.
The paddle seems off. It seems to be sending the ball back at the same angle it hit the paddle with. Typically, the closer to the middle of the paddle, the smaller the angle. This lets the player have better control of where the ball will go. In my BB type game this is what I did. Fun game, keep it up!!
