Hello, I am Yarheeguy and I am searching for a team to join. I am an experienced game jammer who is trying to make 12 games for 2025, this jam will be my 12th and final game I will make for this year.

Because of this, I will give it my all for whatever game we make. My skills is mainly in game and Narrative design, but I can also do 2D art and C# scriptwriting in Unity.

Here is my Portfolio website to show proof of my skills:

https://halor456.wixsite.com/mindofjaymiles

If you are interested, either comment below and I'll contact you or DM me on Discord (username is the same as Discord name.)

Some notes when picking me for your team:

  • I am going to be available throughout the jam, but I don't want to do all the work, I prefer to do the role that I am doing, but I will try my best to help wherever I can.
  • My Time Zone is GMT (+0)
  • I would like to know how many there are in the team, the time zones of you and your members and their availability throughout the jam

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hello, I am Yarheeguy and I am a game developer and an Experienced Game Jammer doing a '12 games for 2025' by doing a game jam a month, This Jam is going to be my 11th jam this year!

I am looking to Join a team and work on an idea that a team thought of.

I can either be a Game Designer or a 2D artist, While my main role is writer and Narrative Designer, this jam is about making a game that last 20 seconds, so no much writing there, but will be willing to help with any writing aspects. I also know how to use Unity but if you plan on working on other software, that's fine, just that I won't assist with using said software.

If you are interested in having me on your team, either message me on Discord (my name is same as username) or comment below with a way to contact you and we will go from there.

Here is my Portfolio (currently being Overhauled, but still show my skills and abilities):

https://halor456.wixsite.com/mindofjaymiles

I would be interested to see a stream of you playing the game I submitted

it's called Igor Meme

https://yarheeguy.itch.io/igor-meme

a bit of a heads up because I notice you mute all voices, there is no option to mute the characters voices, the only time when there is no voices is the MC's internal monologue.

If a game lack something that appears in the rating, I give it a one star, I don't think there's an option to leave it blank.

You can play the VN I made, It's called Igor Meme.

UPDATE
It turned out I didn't properly put the Credits scene into the build. already fixed will appear in the next update.

Update: 03/09

Good news I managed to write the dialogue for my game!

I also edited it to make sure it all makes sense, but just to be sure, I'm hoping to find a proof-reader who can look over it and see if it's all good, no grammatical errors and it all make sense. this is now a great time to have a proofreader

Yes, I saw your friend request, but I didn't know it was for the proofreader role since it didn't say you joined the server of the people organising the jam. so at the time, I didn't know the reason for the friend request. You should have commented here first, then sent the request.

Send it again, and I'll be happy to accept it and accept you as a proofreader.

Update 31/08 (D/M)

(As I post this) It's Hours away from the start of the jam.

There are some position open, but one that could help a lot is a proofread.

I plan to spend the first 3 days writing and editing the dialogue for my game idea. if I have a proofreader, they can look over what I wrote and edit so that the grammar is okay and the conversation between characters make sense.

if you are interested, please DM me on Discord. (Note: I won't respond until the jam starts, that is when I wake up.)

Played this game and found it funny and interesting for a boss rush game.

The first two bosses are challenging, but I managed to beat them; the hand is the most difficult.

The only complain is that while the sounds are great, there are moments where the sounds suddenly stop, like it got interrupted and couldn't hear anything for a few seconds.

Other than that, good game.

Hello, I am Jay, and I am making this post in hopes of finding an artist for an upcoming Project for a VN jam in September.

I am a game developer who's doing a '12 games in 1 year' challenge by doing game jams, and the upcoming Jam will be my 9th.

Details of the jam itself:
https://itch.io/jam/spooktober-2025

I am looking to create a team, so far we already got a writer and programmer (me), a character artist, a sound and music composer and some talented voice actors.
All that's left is a Background artist to make the environment of the game setting. The jam starts at the start of September, and throughout the month, I need the artist to be active and available to work on their tasks for the project.

Summary of my game idea:

It will be a Visual Novel about a guy who appears as an unsettling, creepy monster working at an American gas station on Halloween. While this is a regular job for most, this guy sees it as a chance to prove that he can do more for the station’s store. But opportunity comes with pressure, can he handle to comments and verbal assaults from customers who are unsettled by his appearance?

Other details:
Due to this being part of a Game Jam, the role is Unpaid, but the jam does have a crash prize, if the game ends up winning any awards. I will be happy to split the reward in good percentages (for this role, the artists will have a 20%, if we get a background artist, that 20% will be split in half, so overall you'll get 10%.)

If you are interested,  then send a comment here or message me on Discord: yarheeguy

Introduction:

Hello, my name is Jay ‘Yarheeguy’ Miles, and I am a game developer and designer who is interested in joining the Spooktober Game Jam.

I am an experienced Game Developer and Narrative Designer who is currently doing a ’12 games in 1’ year objective. Doing 1 every month by doing game jams, this jam will be my 9th. I have great experience in narrative design and making visual novels in the past, including See Only Evil: Rebecca’s Origins, and a Danganronpa-Style fangame.

I have already thought of an idea for the visual novel, But I don’t want to do everything by myself.

 I need your help!

I am forming a team that can aid me in my development.

Here are the job openings:

(Job openings will be updated if they are open or closed)

Edit Update: 24/08  (Day/Month)

2D Artists:

-Background Artist

-Character sprite artist

-UI artist

Sound and music:

-Sound and music designer

Voice Actors:

Closed!

Other Roles:

-Proofreader (start of the jam)

-Playtester (at the near end of the jam)

Game Idea

For those who are curious to know what my game idea is going to be, I’m happy to tell you a good summary.

It will be a Visual Novel about a guy who appears as a unsettling creepy monster working at an American gas station on Halloween. While this is a regular job for most, this guy sees it as a chance to prove that he can do more for the station’s store.

Here are some notes to give you an idea of my game:

-The Game will be set in The World of See Only Evil (best way to describe it: My Hero Academia meets 1984, where villains are oppressed and potential villains are monitored.)

-It will take place on Halloween and have horror aspects of the struggles of being accepted.

-NO ROMANCE WILL BE INVOLVED.

-The Game will be made using the Unity Engine and have more features than just reading dialogue and ‘branching.

Payment and Rewards

As this is a Game Jam, the only payment I can provide is experience to working on a project that you can put on your CV/Portfolio.

However, I am planning to pay for the Judge Pass. If any chance our game ends up winning any of the cash prize categories, I will be happy to split the reward.

For the main prize I will split my earnings to 40%, since I am the one with the idea, working on the programming and putting everything together, each role will have 20% for their efforts (and any roles that has more than one person will have a equal split of 20, if there is 3 artists, that’s 6.66% each)

If the game wins one of the sub-categories, I will split the reward 80-20 to whoever is responsible to win that category. I would consider this as a better reward for those who did their best work for the achievement.

(UPDATE: it turns out anyone responsible for winning the sub catagory will get the reward 100%, so ignore the part above and the 3 pie charts below the image, the ones who get that reward deserves it.)

(Note: Best Voice Actor will only be applied for the one Voice Actor who won the reward)

Interested to join?

If you are interested to join a team, here’s how you can apply to join my team:

  • Contact me on Discord (Username: yarheeguy)

-Samples of your experience (example: 2D art, music track, voice samples, etc.)

-Your Time Zone (I am in BST)

-When you are available to work on the Jam (the entirety of September), you can provide a time schedule of you being free.

After applying for the role, I will contact you as soon as I could to determine if you fit for the role.

Please note the following:

  • I have the right to reject your application. Whether if it’s the lack of details required, if the role has already been filled, or if the skills and under the requirement.
  • I will not accept anyone who’s going to be busy in the majority of the jam (meaning you have to be free to work on the jam at minimum of 15 days.)
  • The game will be made in Unity Engine, but Only I am going to use it, you don’t need to use the engine yourself or GitHub, if you want to see development, I will be happy to show you progress.

Thank you for reading and hope this post catches your interest.

I saw this post. I'm only at the planning stage and going to post something soon, but I am creating a team and looking for artists. After seeing your work and your experience with 2d animation, I'm interested in your skills that could help with the idea that I want to do for this jam.

If you are still looking for a team to join as a character sprite artist, feel free to contact me on Discord (my username is yarheeguy)

I can tell this has a lot of work onto it, the art is good, especially when it's the only game in this jam that uses the 'Paper Garden Palette' diversifier, the animation and sounds are neat and it's a game that can be hard if you just go straight forward towards it, but easy when you learn how to counter the enemies, but still challenging.

Good job.

okay, I can see speedrunners trying their best to not mess up. reminds me of that game with the guy in the pot, one wrong move and you are back at the start.

good game.

I guess it's nature, but there isn't really much here.

I can see speedrunners struggling to master this game, and I did struggle, the controls can be somewhat hard, but you have to be really good to pass the game, and this is somewhat one of those.

so all I can say is this was actually good.

Thanks for the comment and happy to see your feedback

For the countdown, that is intentional and made to mess up speedrunner's attempts to get a shorter time, makes it a little unpredictable.

I found some people, and I think it's a good number that we don't need any more

Hello, my name is Jay Miles. I am writing here because I want to be part of the upcoming game jam parade. and I am open to joining a team who are determined and puts a lot of effort into developing a game for this jam, which is what I will be doing, as I will use my skills to help.

-Unity

I have plenty of experience in game jams, in fact, I made a goal to make at least 12 games for 2025. As I post this, I have made 5. I plan to use this jam to make my 6th game.

If you still need someone to work with on this jam, please reply or DM me on Discord, my username is also my discord name and you can find me on the jam's Discord server.

Here is my Portfolio as proof of my experiance:

https://halor456.wixsite.com/mindofjaymiles

Played this game and from the looks of it, it's a driving game with Godzilla-like City Destruction

I guess with the plants appearing after destroying buildings, the idea is that you are destroying the city so you can plant trees. an interesting concept, though somewhat conflicting

gameplay is not that bad with the driving, though the camera can be a little weird as it acts on its own, works for the starting point, but made it a little difficult to navigate.

still a good attempt and had fun for a little bit with the gameplay.

Thank you for playing.

as for the bug, at what level did that happen? and is it like you can't move at all? or is it that the player character animation is stuck on falling, if it's the former, then I'll look into it because I did encounter a similar bug in Susurrae, if it's the latter, that seemed to happen when the player is falling but close to the ground, usually at the start of the level, jumping again would fix it.

okay, played this game a bit, I get the idea.

It is interesting that this game is similar to mine, but instead of needing to stay in the light, you have he careful of your movement, as you deplete health whenever you move and gain full health after going back home, I can see a lot in this.

but the gameplay isn't really that enjoyable, as most of it is go to a place to clean up, press button and go to the next one, there is platforming, but it's the same platforms over and over. I get there are more platforms, but again, in order to get there with still full health, you have to do the same platforms again and again. while I understand the loop to do the platforms and clean up so the air becomes clearer, it does get a little repetitive after doing it too many times

it's a good concept and I can see a lot more to it, but it still need something more to make the game interesting and the levels need to change once in awhile so I'm stuck doing the same level, even if it looks different, the platforms remain the same.

overall, interesting game, but only for a short while.

Played it and... it is something that needs a bit of work.

I slowly recognise the gameplay loop, which goes down to this

1: Get bucket

2: Plant seed to make sunflower

3: Water sunflower

4: Harvest sunflower make compost

5: bring compost to tree

6: bring water to tree

steps that is quickly recognise and do again and again, and each level has a different variety, but it would be nice to learn what to do first and learn the process through gameplay rather than looking up on the guide.

The levels are really good, though I notice a few things I can do to skip some things, especially level 2 where I can just drop the battery to a place where I can't get on, fall down and pick up the battery, or when I get the bucket, I just fall down and the bucket just carries me, quicker than moving on the platform.

a way to counter this would be to reset everything or if the player falls down.

Still, it was a good experience. It was quick to go through and a bit long to learn, but still nice.

So glad that you enjoyed it and happy that you love the level design and platform challenges.

a very easy game with simple controls, yet it has a good puzzles to solve, I managed to get all 10 and the later ones weren't so easy, had to think hard on what to do next and I often make tiny mistakes.

good game overall.

thank you for your comment and happy to hear that you like it.

As for the improvements, how I set it up is that you have to stand still at a certain distance before the interaction could appear, I actually did this to counter the bug of interacting with characters while moving, it ends up with the player still moving while dialogue is being played, I think next time I should have the interaction appear to let the player know that they can interact but only have the activation working when they are standing still. That way it works in both ways.

as for the controls, using 'Space' to dash and W/Up arrow to jump is my preference. If I develop this game further, I might need to figure out a way to change the controls for those who prefer other ways to use the keyboard. But thank you for pointing this out

already filled out the registration form right after submitting my game

Okay, played this game and find it interesting being one of the 3 2D platofrmers in this jam that I played so far (including my own for the jam) and this one is alright, reminds me a lot of Mirror's Edge, probably because of the white buildings and different colours to mark on what is different. the gameplay controls is good, could be better with alternative controls.

I do like the idea of having to reach the top while the bottom is slowly trying to kill you, though I don't see it with the theme of Solarpunk, I don't know why the player character gets hurt by nature, makes me wonder why they are planting the seeds if the plats is damaging to them, a bit of mixed messaging here.

Lastly I don't know if you include it, but I can't hear anything, no music, no sound effects, absolutely nothing. not sure if this is a bug that no volume is being played or if you just didn't add any. if it's the former, just letting you know, if it's the latter, it would be nice to hear some stuff especially when they can be good indicators and help with the visuals.

Overall, a neat game.

Alright, after playing this game, I'm actually surprise to how well done it is, the driving mechanics are fun to play, it doesn't boring, and it gives a sense of challenge and way to think on solutions. I'm only at the dock part of the game, but I might play a bit more of this game.

Honestly, this might be the one to win the grand prize.

Overall well done.

Thank you for the feedback, happy that you enjoy it.

You can progress dialogue without the mouse, you can either use the mouse or the space bar to progress dialogue. I also include arrow keys as an alternative controls for those who use arrow keys instead of WASD.

I did found out about getting stop while running on the platform, sometimes it works sometimes you get stop because you are in-between the holes, I thought it was more of a way for the player to think quickly, when it happens to me, I use jump constantly.

As for 'dying before hit zero,' I might look into it, I did set it so that if it's below 1, then it's game over, not at 0, this is due to how in some instance the health gets to 0.8 instead of 0.

but I did the best I can

(1 edit)

this is a somewhat good attempt in making a click-and-point game, but I was a a little confused throughout the gameplay, especially when it took awhile for me to realise how the movements works.

Eventually I got stuck because I don't know what a Bento is.

it was very buggy and need a lot of improvement, fist would be movement, maybe instead of clicking on the object or at least also move to interact with the object, you can also point and click to where the player character can go to and they go there, something so the player wouldn't know what to do in the first minute of the game. maybe have words when highlighting the object so the player know what they are.

overall, it is a good attempt, but I don't see much of a journey.

I seen some WIP of this game on discord, showing bits of art of it and it was interesting to see how this game will turn out. thought it was going to be a simulation game where you place stuff in the environment to make a town.

but it turns out to be a bee game, and one where you have to move to the left, then right, which is a good game loop.

however, there are a couple of things that thought was too easy, for one was the side objectives and the award for side objectives, completing one of these side objective gives you enough points to get all the upgrades from the shop, then it's smooth saling from there, on Level 3 I got a final score of 1600.

A good game that I can see being something that people could play if you plan to develop it after the jam, which I'm guessing you are going to do, given that there are features in this game that feels somewhat unnecessary if it was just a proof of concept or a one-off game, such as save slots, I don't think you need them since you can complete the game with one of them.

Once again, interesting game and the art is nice.

played the game and I go a few things to say about it.

I do like that the idea is that you are taking care of a farm and you are using drones, but the way it's done just feels incredibly linear, like I'm not doing it by my own, but rather following instructions, then in the following days, it became too linear when the drones do stuff on their own, but still need to do a few things.

I also managed to find a couple of ways to break the game and found a couple of bugs, such as that while one drone is doing a task and I change it to a different perspective then go back to the drone while it's doing its task, I the drone can move while doing the task.

Overall, it was a somewhat confusing experience where I'm not playing a game but just following instructions, and if I don't I find myself just lost in this game.

played the game and I do see the idea of the of what you are making and I can see it being fun. though the controls took a bit to get the hang of, though I mostly use the water attack rather than the punches, especially when I don't see the purpose attacking with punches especially when enemies can hurt you if you get too close and not a lot of time to get those punches, so I think the water range attack should be more the focus when it comes to attacks.

Overall, a good job, happy to see another 2D platformer for this jam, while mine is more Celeste-like, yours is more Megaman-like.

I see what this game is supposed to be, a simulator where you have to put things on the map and expand, while also having to deal with other situation, such as energy, pollution and community, which is a good starting idea, though for this instance it isn't executed very well.

There are plenty of bugs and problems, most notably is  when I tried to place something but change my mind, the thing gets placed anyway, also a lot of overlapping issues where the placements overlap each other.

I know this is just a proof of concept and I see the concept, but it is something that needs a lot of work and hopefully you will end up with a good simulated game by the end of it, but for now, it's a bit of a mess.

I do like this idea of a game, needing to fill in squares and keep increasing, while trying to think how to get the highest score as possible.  and only managed to get up to over 3000 points.

though there are some things that could be nice to have, a 'game over' sequence would be useful, appearing if you go under the points or at least when you ran out of cards.

Overall, a good experience with good replayability values.
