I AM RATING THESE ALL THESE JAM SUBMISSIONS RELATIVE TO ONE ANOTHER. THERE ARE HIGH HIGHS AND LOW LOWS BUT PLEASE DON’T TAKE THIS TOO PERSONALLY, AFTERALL, WE ALL ONLY HAD A MONTH.
I’VE ALSO ONCE AGAIN VERY MUCH PROCRASTINATED ON DOING THESE JAM REVIEWS SO THESE ARE BASED ON MY MEMORIES FROM 10 MONTHS AGO.
Implementation of Theme (3):
Awwww, man. I’m remembering how sad the Theme Implementation on this one was. This is the lowest overall ranked one to get a 3 from me for this. The widower remembers.
Story (2):
The story was very tight knit but I think that some of the ESL-ness of it bogged it down.
Presentation (1):
Not really much to remember but I do think that having the backgrounds be black & white only was a nice touch.
Creativity (1):
I don’t know why I ranked this so low. I should’ve ranked it higher considering the content. I just think I needed to rank one more at this rank it got the cut.
Total (7):
I do remember how nervous you were about your VN in the FVN Server and excited to see what you’re able to do in Round 2 for MAY WOLF 2026. I’m glad to see that the judging wasn’t too harsh on you after all.

Implementation of Theme (2):
I remember them exploring a dark cave and then wolf turning into or on a light.
Story (1):
The translation needed a lot of work. I could barely understand what was going on so it just kind of felt aimless. Maybe I need to play Elden Ring.
Presentation (2):
Ladies, gentlemen and everyone outside and in-between, WE GOT CATBOI BUTT!
Creativity (2):
I’ve got to give this team props for being the first project to use the Translation Extension Policy.
Total (7):
I haven’t played any of the other projects that the team has made before or after Blue Hour but I think Please Send Nudes has been the most popular one so far. It’s really nice to see the sheer variety that the studio is able to put out when so many people just stick to same genre over and over again.

Story (2):
I’m trying to even remember if I finished this one last year or not. I think I had to leave the stream early for some reason and I remember the crowd not vibing with it.
Presentation (1):
For some projects, mixing the different sprites worked but this one it did not.
Creativity (2):
I remember that was one of the few Submissions to use The Snow Leopard sprite even though she was finished pretty late.
Total (6):
I do want to go play your L+A Jam Game because of how memorable the title was. I wish more of those VN’s were streamed on the FVN Server.

Story (2):
I think the most memorable thing is when the MC is cornered by the guards and decides to escape down a river or a waterfall.
There are few twists and turns but I don’t remember that much that stands out. It’s quaint story that has a beginning, middle and a happy ending.
Presentation (2):
It was pretty impressive for you to make all of your own assets but I think just trying to shade them would’ve made them feel less flat.
Creativity (1):
I don’t think I was in the mood for more medieval MY WOLF’s at the time.
Total (6):
Finally, I’m out of the 4/5 rankings.
I find a little ironic that I forgot so much about the VN with forget-me-nots in the little. Especially considering is on the longer side of submissions. Hopefully the creator makes something again in the future because the community has kind of forgotten about them too.

Story (1):
I remember that the creator during the stream was explaining a lot of things that they forgot to put into the VN. It was pretty confusing in terms of POV.
Presentation (1):
The one custom CG kind gets overshadowed by the numerous missing assets.
Creativity (2):
The Superhero/Supervillain idea was unique for this Jam. The idea of the reporter being able to read people’s thoughts through his rabbits ears was a twist I wasn’t expecting to happen…?
Total (5):
Out of the submissions that I gave a total of a 5 to this is my favorite because even though you have less time to work on it you still showed other people up by finishing it. There are so many people’s work that will never see the light of day at all and yours is not one of them.

Story (1):
I have no idea what the story is.
Presentation (2):
There was a lot of custom assets but it’s not in style that I like regardless of my gender preferences.
Creativity (1):
The minigame, even though there was no skill whatsoever involved, was memorable for what people said about it during the stream.
Total (5):
I’m glad that the creator seems to release a lot of projects regularly and got experiment a bit in a Furry Jam.
I wish I knew about the Werewolf Jam that you also submitted this to. I feel like we could’ve gotten more cross-Jam utilization that way.

I thought the lovers being the lights in each others’ darks during doomsday was cute.
Story (1):
The meme line about the president destroying the world should’ve made me bump this up by a few points.
Presentation (1):
The thumbnail was the only thing that I remember being added that was memorable.
Creativity (1):
I see a vision but it’s fleshed out enough to have substance.

This VN will forever be remembered for the one line that got passed around like a blunt.
I just read the DevLog that was released in December and I think it would be a real shame to let this VN stay a lukecold piece of dough.
Hey, I’m reading this now.
“The main problem is that I don’t want to update the game and keep using the same sprites for the one as the jam. Personally, it feels like I would be taking advantage of the great designs from the artists of the jam.”
You finished the Jam, you have the rights to use the art so use it!

I would’ve ranked this much higher if bored_kitty didn’t have all of that SonicXShadow FanFiction at the end to obviously get to the word count minimum. This is another one where we decided to let the judges give judgement instead of The Administration.

Implementation of Theme (1):
I honestly should’ve given at least a 2 for trying with the Jam Theme.
Story (1):
I remember the plot just kind of coming out of nowhere in terms of the titular Guiding Light.
Presentation (2):
I can’t remember why I gave this a 2 because I remember so many missing assets. I think this was one of the few VN’s that used The Conqueror Wolf’s Mafia outfit.
Creativity (1):
I think trying to make a Crime/Mafia VN was the most creative thing I can remember.
Total (5):
I think we were a little harsh during your stream but one thing that you have to keep in mind is that you did cross the finish line on time which a lot of people can’t say they have.
I do want to see where this goes with more time in the oven.

Not a VN.

Presentation (2):
There’s no images in the story but there is a custom UI. That still does not make it a VN in my eyes.
Creativity (1):
Not a VN.
Total (5):
This is not a Visual Novel nor an Audio Novel in my eyes. It was honestly so inoffensive that The Administration decided not to enforce that this is a Visual Novel Jam. The Judging will be the judges.
I do hope that the creator goes back to this story or his NovemBEAR to flesh it out because he definitely has been immersed in the FVN Community enough to make something great.

Implementation of Theme (1):
I do not remember any use of the Jam Theme.
Story (1):
I honestly don’t remember much besides the MY WOLF being a black hole for the story.
Presentation (1):
We all need to start somewhere and I’m glad that you made your own assets but this one of the Submissions that makes me ask why not just use the Pre-Made Assets?
Creativity (1):
The busts of the sprites taking up so much real estate on the screen give it a unique vibe.
Total (4):
To me, the most memorable thing about this VN is how the Stream started horribly. The streamer called out or didn’t show up. We didn’t have a back up so we had to ask another Submitter, FdRstar to fill in.
I was expecting this one to get a huge update after the Jam but alas nothing seems to have happened and the creator hasn’t been seen since.
For SFW, feral wolf characters are allowed but you will still need at least one wolf to be mostly physically anthropomorphized beyond having sentience and the ability to communicate with non-feral characters in order for them to count towards the “anthro” in Rule 3.
For NSFW, while the Harkness Test is the standard that most Furries use and passes in your example, with recent vague itch.io policy changes we are worried that this example would go against their “animal-related” policy. https://itch.io/docs/creators/faq#is-adult-content-allowed
We will email itch.io to see if they will allow such content but are highly doubtful they will respond to us let alone give us clarification to allow it. For now we will have to prohibit Harkness Test Passing Feral NSFW but will contact you if we do get a response.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Please ask any questions about Rule 8: Porting
8.Submissions need at least a Windows Version but releasing other Operating System versions before the rating phase ends is strongly recommended.
- Same policy for uploading new versions as the previous rule.
- We can point people in the right direction for resources such as Android Build exporting.
Please ask any questions about Rule 7: Translation Patches
7.Submissions don’t have to be in English but it is strongly encouraged to have an English translation/patch before the rating phase ends.
- For example, if you release a VN in German, you can work on and release an English translation/patch during the rating phase. If you add such versions, make sure those comply with Rule 2.b.
Please ask any questions about Rule 5: Law & Ethics
5.Don’t violate any of itch.io’s TOS while making the Visual Novel and don’t make yourself reasonably vulnerable to a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown by infringing on serious copyrights. Don’t violate the Geneva Conventions by misappropriating the Red Cross.
- Additionally, avoid any glorification of sexual violence or infantilization in the Visual Novel. Do not have a recent history of such glorifications.
Please ask any questions about Rule 3: Story Requirements
3.Your submission must fulfill all of the following specifications:
- Use—at minimum—one of the (premade Wolves) OR (draw yourself or commission someone else to draw your own wolf OC) OR (draw/commission someone else’s wolf OC while having explicit permission to use them from the owner.)
- Have an anthro wolf, or wolves, be a prominent character—protagonist NOT included—to the overall narrative for the majority of the story.
- The protagonist can be a wolf if there is another wolf that fulfills this specification.
Examples from 2025’s Jam:
- A Wolf In Headlights
- The Curious Case of Route 19
- Yes, coyotes (brush wolves) are counted as wolves. Not all canines are.
- Farewell, Wanderlust
- The protagonist can be a wolf if there is another wolf that fulfills this specification.
Examples from 2025’s Jam:
- Have a word count between 2,000–25,000 words.
- If stories are first written in languages with low space usage, such as Thai, then we’ll go off of an approximation based off of a theoretical English translation.
- Either be (an Original IP) OR (a side-story, prequel, sequel, midquel, etc to an established IP you own or have explicit permission to use from the owner.)
Please ask any questions about Rule 2: Releasing & Updating
2.Submissions will be taken during the month of May.
- Promotional images and descriptions on the itch.io page can be altered during the Jam Rating Phase.
- If you want your Submission to be part of the Jam Rating Phase in June then don’t add more content nor fix bugs/typos/glitches until the Rating Phase is over.
Please ask any questions about Rule 1: Working & Planning
- You can only work on your project during the month of May.
- Brainstorming, Plot Outlining, Sketching (that does not lead to direct production of assets), Team Building, Photo Taking & Creative-Commons/Licensed Asset Collecting before the jam starts is allowed.
- In the COMMUNITY Tab there will be a space where artists will be able to offer special licenses on their art to be used in the Jam and available for use by ALL Jammers if said art is not already CC. This art can be made before May.
- Anything licensed under the COMMUNITY Tab will not be given the same level of legal protection by the Administration as the Pre-Made Sprites.
- In the COMMUNITY Tab there will be a space where artists will be able to offer special licenses on their art to be used in the Jam and available for use by ALL Jammers if said art is not already CC. This art can be made before May.
- You’re encouraged to learn and experiment with different skills and story/gameplay mechanics before May.
- This includes Programming and Engine Building.
