Thank you!

Hello everyone, I worked on a small windows application for my own use, but decided to release it to the public. It's a small and Lightweight Utility for generating text to speech. You can export sounds to WAV, listen to the playback, and the like. I'd love some feedback, thanks:

🛠️ Just Released: Checkly – A Free Checklist Tool for Windows!

Hey fellow devs!

I just launched Checkly, a lightweight Windows checklist app I built to help stay organized during game jams, dev sprints, or just life in general.

You can:

  • Add, edit, and check off tasks easily

  • Track your progress visually

  • Save and load checklists as .json files

  • Include optional summaries, notes, and even a photo per item

It’s free, clean, and made by a solo dev (me!) trying to keep my own chaos under control. 😅
Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Please tell me what you like and do not like about the program, so I can improve it. All feedback is welcome.

All Stairs is right.

we could use your help in our project for the Lyko jam. But if you're busy I understand.

I tried to dm you on discord but it said it couldn't find a user with that user. If you able I could use some help with programming on a game jam project. It's a psychological horror.

Your link appears broken. 404 page not found. But if you're able I could use a female voice actress in my teams game jam project. I am unable to provide monetary compensation as it's a game jam project and not intended to be sold. Though if you're interested, the game is a psychological horror game set on Mars.

My team is creating a game for a game jam, and we need a voice actor for some lines. I can't offer monetary compensation, but if you're willing we'd love to have you join the team.

Summary:

Hello! I’m working on a game jam project and looking for a talented pixel artist to join the team. The project is sci-fi themed, and we’re aiming for realistic, science-based pixel art—think astronauts, space vehicles, and spacesuits. I already have someone on board for sound design, but I really need help with the art side. This is an unpaid, short-term collaboration just for the duration of the game jam, not a long-term project. If you’re skilled in sci-fi pixel art and interested in teaming up, let’s connect!

Project Details:

Mars Vestige is a 2D sci-fi survival horror game set in an abandoned Martian colony. Players take on the role of a lone astronaut, sent to resupply a colony, only to discover that all the colonists are dead. As they explore, they must piece together the mystery behind the colony’s fate, uncovering clues, solving puzzles, and facing hazards like arcing electricity and dangerously low oxygen. With eerie visuals, a haunting atmosphere, and a unique left-right movement mechanic, players experience the tension of survival against a ticking clock. The art style is monochromatic with red hues to reflect the Martian landscape, and gameplay emphasizes exploration, puzzle-solving, and resource management to survive in this desolate setting.

Thank you.

Project Started: October 28th 2024

Deadline: November 13th, 2024

I am creating a game for a game jam, are you still available to join a project? I have someone working on sounds. The game is themed around Mars.

Спасибо! Я посмотрю на ошибку в меню, о которой вы упомянули.

thank you!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! Fun fact, the sanity bar was ChatGPT's idea.

Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it! I spent a lot of time on the atmosphere.

Oh, well it was still fun

I understand that, either way, great work!

Honestly not bad, one of the more polished games in this jam, and I love the music. Your team did great! I think you might win

Ngl this was probably the most polished game here. I think it may win.

Engine: Unity Game Engine
Version: 2022.13.18f1 LTS

Nice! I'll give it a view, keep up the great work!

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the mechanic of running from light to light. I will definitely be continuing this project in the near future. I’ll have to increase the range on the flashlight for sure. The next thing is the flashlight clipping through the walls and objects, I think I know a way to fix that but forgot to implement it. And I’ll definitely have to increase the range of allowed movement for looking up and down. Originally I wanted the flashlight movement to kind of lag behind the movement of the camera but I think moving them separately is what the problem may be. On the other hand I definitely want to add more events and delve deeper into the story. Oh and with the breathing the premise was that being inside your breathing is calm, going near windows or doors makes you slightly anxious, and being outside makes you highly anxious, which makes the player character breathe hard while out in the forest. I’m glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the feedback!

I thought this was an interesting story. It's heart wrenching feeling if the one you trust with your heart betrays you... Even more gut wrenching to realize you—

Okay not bad, I feel like it was a bit incomplete, I feel my project was incomplete as well, but if you die it just says game over and to restart you have to reload the page. Though you could definetely expand upon it in the future.

I'm not sure how it relates to the game jam theme of "Haunting Memories" but it is a bit fun although if you stand in the center then jump and hit the pumpkin so it bounces towards the right corner, you can catch it in an infinite loop to gain as many points. Something I would like to see is some more challenge to it, maybe have skeletons fall from the sky that you have to dodge and maybe you have to prevent the pumpkin from hitting the ground in certain parts.

Honestly not bad. You should continue this project and expand on it after the jam. Ngl the jumpscare got me.

Alright I’ll play once I get home tonight

Nice! I'll be sure to play it :)

No problem! And thanks for a speedy response!

Honestly thats a pretty cool scratch project. I find it incredible you made a light system like that for the project. I'd love to see a complete project one day. 6/10
