My plan is to have everything be hand-drawn, but I won't be doing the art overhaul until version 0.6 is done sorry!

I'll be practicing my art a lot before then but you can see a very early draft of what she'll look like at https://vndrscale.itch.io/dorm-roach/devlog/988522/dev-log-4

There was meant to be another room but there were some drastic bugs that stopped it working. The next version will fix all that but it won't work with your current save sorry!

It's taking a little longer than I planned but the test version should be up on my patreon by the end of the week!

Dorm Roach community · Created a new topic Road Map

I had some delays this month but that gave me some time to think and plan better for how the final game will work. There's a lot to do before the game has every feature I want and art that I'm happy with so I've listed the most important milestones along the way to whet your appetite for things to come! There's a lot of other little bits I'll be adding that aren't worth a dedicated update, and each update will add some polish to things already added, but the complete version of the game must have all of these.

v0.3 - NPCs

You aren't the only one who has been shrunk! Scattered throughout the dorm are a number of fellow tinies and you can work with them to improve your chances of survival. Give them daily tasks, such as gathering food, and watch your stockpile grow! Check in with them regularly to keep an eye on their needs and wants. Remember that a happy worker is a productive worker. Build your relationships from stranger to friend, then perhaps from friend to something more... intimate.

v0.4 - UI Overhaul

Right now just about everything you can do in the game requires a menu. That's boring to look at and ruins any sense of immersion so I'll replace everything I can with "in world" objects you interact with. That also means I can hide some secrets in plain sight...

Another major part of this update will be a settings menu where you can tweak every variable. Just because I'm making a game doesn't mean I know how to make it the most fun for everyone. Think you are being seen too often? Turn down the risk level! Want to struggle more for every meal? Make food harder to find!

v0.5 - New Locations and Giantesses

The dorm is a big place and you'll quickly find some rooms are more dangerous than others. The laundry is scarce in food but with some risk (and luck) you can stow away in a giantess' laundry basket for a quick journey to a new room. Keep in mind that some of the giantess' are noticing their new roommates, and affection from someone that large can be just as dangerous as disdain...

v0.6 - Main Story First Draft

It may have been dwelling in the back of your mind - how did you get shrunk? A new location and a new giantess will explain everything, but there's no guarantee you can regain your original size (if you even want to!)

You'll need to build relationships with NPCs, travel to new locations, and complete quests to reach the end game. Not everyone can be trusted...

v0.7 - Art Overhaul!

The game will be most of the way to feature complete so I will finally start replacing placeholder art with drawings that don't scar your eyeballs. This will no doubt be the most work of any version and to stop myself getting bored or burned out I'll still be adding a few new events, characters and game mechanics at this point.

v0.8 - Story Overhaul

Until here any characters and stories will be quick and dirty first drafts. I'll be tweaking and editing constantly between updates but this will be the where I do nothing but write. Existing stories will be expanded and new stories will be added to fill the gaps until the world feels truly gigantic and alive.

v0.9 - ???

Who knows what the future holds! Everything will have been done with the goal of making it easy to add more locations, more NPCs, more giantesses, and more stories and this will be where I put that work to the test. I also have some looooong term plans that may not even be possible so I won't make any promises yet...

v1.0 - Game Completion

Story = complete! Art = polished! Game = DONE! No doubt I'll keep adding more content for a long time but at this point I'll start work on one of the other projects in my backlog...

Sorry, it's been delayed a bit due to some family problems. Bugs are my main focus right now and I'm hoping to have the next free version available by the end of the month.

Thanks for the feedback! Bugs are my main focus right now, then art (I've decided to go with the hand drawn style). I'll be adding more interactions and events with each update but I until everything is working better they'll mostly be placeholders to be fleshed out later.

Oops, I know what happened there! I'll put that on the buglist for the next version, thanks for the help

A test build of the next version is now available at patreon.com/vndrscale

Here's an overview of the changes under testing
- Multiple 'under the hood' changes to make future updates quicker and easier
- Survival mechanics rebalanced
- 'Caught' events rebalanced
- Overhauled scouting/gathering
- Normalised ambient sound volumes
- Crafted equipment can now break
- Added 'stuck in shoe' event
- Added 'climb the bed' event

Once those changes are tested and working a release build of v0.2 will be uploaded here

You'll be happy to hear being a tiny girl is my preference so most of the game will be written with that as the default perspective when things get a bit more intense!

Thanks! I didn't realise I could add tags manually

That's definitely in the plan! Now that the basic framework is done I'll be adding some actual content in the next version, you'll be able to explore more and there will be consequences for risky actions (there's a reason you can get into her sock for example...)

I have plans for how this game will develop but I need your help to get there! Please let me know if you find any bugs, missing art, story errors or anything else you think needs improving.
