Yes, i understand the issue. At some point the mesh's faces are so big that you start to see the geometry or clipping faces. How about making this optional? By default the size is limited and the player has the option to enable larger sizes if they don't care much about clipping issues. I would appreciate this compromise if it isn't to much of a hassle for you.
Sure thing.
- Enter desktop mode on your deck (Steam button > Shut down > Switch to desktop). Your deck will now load a linux desktop. This takes a few seconds and the controls will be unresponsive for a brief moment. Once everything finished loading you can use the right trackpad to move the cursor and R2/L2 for left/right click.
- Now you can download the game from itch.io (a browser should be pre-installed if i remember correctly).
- After the download has finished open the file explorer (which is called Dolphin in this case). The explorer should now display your home folder that also contains the Download folder.
- Find and extract the compressed file you downloaded. (Right-click > Extract > Auto-detect subfolders)
- Optional: move the unpacked folder from the download directory to your home directory.
- Open the game folder and find the game's executable, a file ending in ".sh". In your case it should be the file "BID.sh" if i remember correctly. Right-click the file an select Properties. Navigate to Permissions and enable the checkbox "executalble" and apply the changes. Info: this step can be skipped if you have a windows ".exe" file.
- Right-click the file again and select "Add to Steam".
- Close all windows and double-click the "Return to Gaming Mode" icon on the desktop.
- Back in the normal UI navigate to your Library and browse the tabs to find the non-Steam games. There you should find Bound in Desire. Probably named BID.sh or something similar.
- You can now bring up the game setting and give the game a propper name and change the resolution from native to 1024x640.
- If you want to run a native Windows game the process is the same, but you need to set the compatibility to "proton-experimental" and skip step 6.
I hope this works for you. If you have further questions feel free to ask.
For those of you wondering about SteamDeck compatibility: The Linux version runs just fine. I recommend 1024脳640 with automatic scaling and sharpening set to 1. You can also limit the TDP to 9 Watts so your fan doesn't go crazy. The default "WASD" controller template covers almost every button input (except for Map and Ping) and can easily be customised. For those that don't know this yet: If you press and hold the Steam button you can move the mouse cursor with the right trackpad and left click with R2 (useful for first start to setup the Launcher)
PS: Thank you for your great games Kerni!
Feature Request: Can you please change the way the ghosts work or make them at least optional. it is super annoying when they take you back to the start for the hundredth time in a row. It would be much better if the ghosts would just push the player and make her fall.
Right now the game is borderline unplayable for me and i am totally stuck at level 15. I manage to reach the top of the stairs only once within over 1h only to be dragged back to the start. Finally after 2h of trial and error i managed to beat the level. However this can't seriously be the intended gameplay loop and the ghosts still suck.
I am sorry to say this, since i can see that you clearly put alot of time into the development of this game, but in its current state the gameplay is super frustrating and no fun at all. It would be very cool if you can fix this somehow.
Will this game also release on itch.io or just on Steam? I am asking because in Germany i can't access the Steam version thanks to our shitty government. You might want to look into this if you want sales from Germany and China. (Other publishers usually by-pass this on Steam by releasing a censored version + off-site R18 patch.)
