For those of you wondering about SteamDeck compatibility: The Linux version runs just fine. I recommend 1024×640 with automatic scaling and sharpening set to 1. You can also limit the TDP to 9 Watts so your fan doesn't go crazy. The default "WASD" controller template covers almost every button input (except for Map and Ping) and can easily be customised. For those that don't know this yet: If you press and hold the Steam button you can move the mouse cursor with the right trackpad and left click with R2 (useful for first start to setup the Launcher)

PS: Thank you for your great games Kerni!

Never thought that this would be possible ,due to the amount of RAM needed to run the game.

Hi Vinyard, I own a Steam Deck and would love to play Bound in Desire on it, but I have no idea how to set up and install games on Linux; I have zero experience. Would you mind laying out the installation steps, including tips and software to operate the game?

Sure thing.

  1. Enter desktop mode on your deck (Steam button > Shut down > Switch to desktop). Your deck will now load a linux desktop. This takes a few seconds and the controls will be unresponsive for a brief moment. Once everything finished loading you can use the right trackpad to move the cursor and R2/L2 for left/right click.
  2. Now you can download the game from itch.io (a browser should be pre-installed if i remember correctly).
  3. After the download has finished open the file explorer (which is called Dolphin in this case). The explorer should now display your home folder that also contains the Download folder.
  4. Find and extract the compressed file you downloaded. (Right-click > Extract > Auto-detect subfolders)
  5. Optional: move the unpacked folder from the download directory to your home directory.
  6. Open the game folder and find the game's executable, a file ending in ".sh". In your case it should be the file "BID.sh" if i remember correctly. Right-click the file an select Properties. Navigate to Permissions and enable the checkbox "executalble" and apply the changes. Info: this step can be skipped if you have a windows ".exe" file.
  7. Right-click the file again and select "Add to Steam".
  8. Close all windows and double-click the "Return to Gaming Mode" icon on the desktop.
  9. Back in the normal UI navigate to your Library and browse the tabs to find the non-Steam games. There you should find Bound in Desire. Probably named BID.sh or something similar.
  10. You can now bring up the game setting and give the game a propper name and change the resolution from native to 1024x640.
  11. If you want to run a native Windows game the process is the same, but you need to set the compatibility to "proton-experimental" and skip step 6.

I hope this works for you. If you have further questions feel free to ask.

Very thoughtful. I tried it this weekend. The game works straight off the Linux OS on Steam Deck (the Linux version), but the loading time is a little long and still a bit laggy. Let me try your process, perhaps it will work much smoothly. Much appreciated.

PS: I forgot to mention that you can bring up the onscreen keyboard by pressing Steam+X in desktop mode.
